My husband is in the Coast Guard, and we were recently stationed in Clearwater. While looking for a house we decided to stay in an RV at this resort. We ended up being here for about a month. The resort is definitely under construction currently, but does have a pool, laundry area (that costs $2.50 per wash), and restrooms/showers. We were told there is also Wi-Fi, but we never got it to work.
After being here for about 3 weeks we were told we couldn't park on the grass because it would ruin the grass, when we asked where they'd like us to park we got no answer. The only option for parking was in the new empty spots they had been working on, that was not exactly close by. We then squeezed both of our cars side by side in our spot in front of the RV since we had seen others doing this same thing. The owner came up to our RV about a week later telling us we needed to either move to another spot or we would be kicked out. (I have provided a picture of my car "on the grass" that was reason for us to be "kicked out") We then had to un hook our RV just to move a few feet down so we had room to park our 2 vehicles. I assumed they were telling everyone this same rule, however after a few more days all the other RVs with 2 vehicles were parked more on the grass than we were and were never made to move or threatened to be kicked out as far as we know.
Since there is construction going on, there are bags of mulch, construction equipment, trailers full of brush, giant piles of sand/dirt, large holes and ditches dug up to put in the water lines(?), and extra vehicles blocking most entrances all day long and sometimes into the night. If you need to shower here, it takes atleast 15 minutes just to get warm water in their showers. We lost power several times due to the construction, and also lost water. There is a tiny "dog park" to take your dog too, but it's really just a tiny fenced in area. Barely any room for them to run around. There's no lights throughout the park at night. At a normal park this would be a great thing, however with all of the holes and large ditches dug up around the park with no sign around them warning guests, this can become very dangerous if you need to walk to the bathrooms in the dark.
When we did finally leave the resort they had their construction equipment and vehicles blocking nearly every exit out of the park. If you've ever driven a large RV, you know how difficult it is to maneuver it around corners. One night someone was driving around in circles trying to figure out how to get his camper into one of the spots because they had left construction equipment near his and he couldn't back in. At this point no one in the office was there anymore, so he had to just find somewhere else to park for the night that wasn't his designated spot.
I am sure once the construction is done, it will be a beautiful park, but the park is too small for larger RVs, in my opinion. There's not enough space to move the RVs anywhere especially with all of the construction. The construction that is going on looks minor, but once they have their equipment spread out all over the park and sitting in the middle of the roads, it becomes a BIG issue. I would not recommend this park to anyone at this point. It was a place to stay for us for the month that we needed it, but it caused much more stress than...
Read moreYou won't find better value for your money. I've stayed here a few times. I needed to extend my stay last minute, more than once. The staff is amazing and always willing to help whenever they can. The landscaper takes great pride in her work. Office staff are all great. The manager, Christopher, is just as friendly as his staff. I like to do things online, but a call to the office when I was in a fix made things much easier. They know their business. The location is an oasis in the middle of a very busy area. It's not as close to the water as some rv parks, but a reasonable drive to many beaches, all conveniences (dining, shopping etc) within minutes. If you don't have a separate car from your motorhome, rideshare and delivery are easy and plentiful, even late at night. The entrance is adequate as long as you take your time pulling in. Don't rush the turn off US 19 because they don't have a lot of room at the front check-in area. Once you've checked in it's smooth sailing. Staff will lead you to your site and they are VERY good at guiding you in. You (hopefully) know your rig, but they know their space. Let them help you. Clean, well-maintained, an impressive amount of amenities including activities and social events. Opt-in for text notices for daily activities. Wi-Fi has been great for me, but I've been near the main building so can't speak to signal at the far back. Hookups are easy-access. Gravel sites are pretty level. Propane and firewood available to buy. I've stayed at several rv parks in Pinellas County. Most of them shoehorn rigs into sites, feeling congested. Not here. For such a densely populated, busy area, this KOA does a great job giving customers a peaceful place to stay. Worth every penny. Edit: I'm shocked by how misleading a few unhappy reviewers were regarding the "adult" business "across the street." I live in the area so I know the place they're talking about. First of all, the "street" is US-19, a divided 8-lane road lined with businesses and residential communities of all kinds. It's a busy urban area with a lot of tourism. The business in question is so discreet you could miss it even if you went LOOKING for it. Also, despite the proximity, it's not at an intersection. You'd risk your life dodging 8 lanes of traffic (and break the law) getting there. You'd be safer, and closer, at a Buccaneers game crossing the field in a Saints jersey. The road itself isn't even VISIBLE from most of the Campground. They've landscaped the sloped frontage with trees and bushes. I think it's shameful to degrade a business, full of hardworking people, by insinuating it's anything less than a safe,...
Read moreHi, I usually don't post, specially negative ones I was brought up with the saying “if you don’t have something nice to say don’t say anything “ attitude, but this has exceeded all my beliefs, We, my wife and I have been coming to this KOA in Palm Harbor Florida (Clearwater-Lake Tarpon) for the past four years and we usually stay for three to four months, the price has been a bit high and every year it went up a percentage which is expected because everything goes up, and for the monthly stayers we got charged a monthly rate which is a bit better than the daily rate, but this year we were told that there will be no more monthly rate because as the new Manager put it it’s business, so for us the price shot up over a thousand dollars a month on top of our regular monthly rate which it boils down to over 50%, I don’t call this business I call this gouging!! Off course the new manager says it’s the owners that’s doing this, but I don’t believe a single word that this person says, it’s really to bad because we really like it here and the staff here have been very nice and friendly, the only problem is that most of them have been fired or quit do to the nice “new manager”, I can go on and tell you how they are trying to justify the increase in the rate but I can tell you nothing that they have done or trying to do comes close to the insane increase, so with that we must say so long to a nice place it once was before it got...
