Flapjacks — Restaurant in Florida

We go to a new breakfast place every weekend. This time I returned to flapjacks for my third visit in 2 years. Parking is somewhat available if you're lucky you can get close to the restaurant. The staff is nice people. Seating is average. Not hard seats but not overly soft either. They serve your food in a timely manner. They are used to getting high volumes of people on the weekend. The special was a lemon berry waffle. They had one other special which was a French toast. There was no pancake special even though it's called flapjacks. The flapjacks/pancakes came out warm... Smaller size than expected for a restaurant named flapjacks. Why are they not a little bit bigger? At least for a while factor why not one or two inches larger? The flavor is average if not above average. I would tweak what the recipe to try to make this pancake more flavorful... It's good however.. there are tastier pancakes in the area. I could see that some people probably like these pancakes though. I'm a reviewer and I can tell the difference. The eggs are a decent size I appreciated that. I asked for the English muffins to be buttered and placed on the grill. Did they shrink? I think also they might have put a lot of weight on them. Sometimes these kitchens put a lot of weight on their food like potatoes if they want them well done. It takes moisture out. The bacon was okay. We like it crispy. It was kind of crispy. The point is... I think there's signature items should be a pancake since it is called flapjacks... But the specials were waffles and French toast. You should knock our socks off with the best pancake in Pinellas county. It's not. It's average.. maybe above average. You can do better. What update the bathroom. New locks new door new handle just an update would be good. How about try a different vendor for bacon. Maybe a larger thicker bacon? Something that stands out in Palm harbor? Or how about a nice sized English muffin that doesn't shrink. Anything. Look flapjacks is not a bad restaurant they just don't do anything... Special. They're on US 19 and I expect them to step up their game. They get all this traffic going by there.. could really double their business with some positive changes. Make Something stand out. Well I go back? Sure. But not till after I go to the other place that has the ultimate tasting pancakes. Hint: it's over by alternate 19. Come on flapjacks.. Don't you like some...

My wife and I have enjoyed eating at this restaurant for several years however unfortunately due to an incident with a rude host on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 17, 2019; we have crossed it off our list and have no intention of returning. The incident was over poor service and cold food. We’ve had a similar problem a few times in the past at this eatery however it was with a different host who always accommodated us and made sure things were made right in a professional manner which is all a customer can ask for so we’ve always been satisfied. This host was a different story. After two unsuccessful attempts with the server to get the order right as well as hot I asked for the manager. This host listened me out then without saying a word took my lunch special (open face hot roast beef) back to the kitchen (I assumed) for reheating. However when he returned he basically tossed the plate down on the table like a Frisbee, turned and walked away again without saying a word which of course I took exception to his attitude. When I confronted him on it he was extremely rude and basically let me know in so any words that he didn’t care. I paid for my wife’s lunch (we she never ate because of the dust-up) as well as my drink and left immediately. We’ve lived in this area a long time so are well aware that there are at least a handful of family owned restaurants offering the same comfort food within a close range of this restaurant. Have been going here regularly but wasn't greeted by the usual gentleman... the sign was blown out and the place that was usually always packed was quite slowed down ! But we had to go ask for a menu ...we could understand if it wad busy but the waitresses and cooks were standing around visiting... we ordered soup but it didn't make it to us until right before the food came ! Waiters and waitresses... PLEASE bring soup or salad right away do you feel rushed to eat it and you can enjoy your meal ! 😒😞😕 instead we began speaking negatively wondering why she wouldn't being is the soup.. instead standing around talking... We like the food, prices & location and usually the service ! So I'm sure we'll be back but please... if you're the server... let the customer see you deserve your wages and tips !! You weren't the only one not working... if the traffic want backed up because of an accident on US 19 WE WOULDN'T HAVE WALKED OUT... waiting a 1/2 hour for your soup to finally make it to your table was a bit much !
