I came in to get some games resurfaced. Unfortunately 3 of the 6 games still didn't work afterwards. Granted the 3 games that didn't work were all GameCube games so perhaps they've just been worn down to a point that they won't play anymore. If you guys think they just need another shot in the resurfacing machine, I might consider coming back but I kind of have a feeling the games might just be toast, they've been through a lot š. I would appreciate any advice.
On a good note 3 of the games seem to be working great now. Which is awesome! Especially since two of them ( a Wii and a GC game) could hardly even get through the loading screens prior to the resurfacing.
I would probably give a four or possibly a five star review, because they've got a ton of stuff in there and it seems like a great spot if you're trying to find old games, and they also let me resurface one disc for free, which I very much appreciate, but the staff was pretty rowdy and didn't have much of a filter around customers, and as a Christian dude it kind of made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I realize that maybe they're going for the edgy game store feel. I don't want to try and expect perfection all the time, but maybe just hold off on certain conversations and stuff until certain...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'll hand it to them. They have a great selection of games and accessories, but it's their prices that is the problem. One example is Super Smash Bros Melee for the Nintendo Gamecube. This store sells it for $75, but if you literally walk across the street to Cash Converters, they have it for $60. I've compared prices between the two stores and it's usually the same story. I've seen $5, $10, even up to $20 less across the street, sometimes in better conotion AND complete in box for those retro games. Even with their 20% off days, it's still not worth it. The owner told me in person that he prices higher than ebay because it's right there and you don't have to order it. I understand that, but competitive prices really catch people's eye. I'll admit, I've spent a good amount of money in this store, but no longer will I be purchasing their overpriced merchandise. I'll gladly wait a week for it to be shipped or dance over to Cash Converters. Also, they have a few younger guys I like dealing with, who are helpful and engage in conversation with a good attitude, but there's that one guy who never seems to crack a smile or appear to be in a good mood. It's those younger guys and the wide selection that kept this review from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGame Junkies is by far the best Retro Video Game store in town. I have been working with them over the past three months, taking in chunks of my video game collection to trade for in-store credit, to further the completion of my Nintendo Switch game collection. They will do their best to offer good prices for your items. Just remember, they're a business, and need to make a profit, so don't try to sell them trash and expect a pretty penny for it.
The owner is passionate and knowledgeable about video games, and that is important when running a business like this. If you can establish a good rapport with them, they will even place orders for you for games they do not (somehow) have, which is a great boon when combined with their store credit service. Truly good business policy.
Probably my only concern is the fact that their stores are admittedly rather cramped. But that's just because they have a ton of treasure. Perhaps if everyone bought more from them, they could afford to acquire a bigger storefront! XD
My business with them has not concluded yet, but I will most certainly give them high praise and recommend them to everyone looking to add to their video...
