The only issues Iâve encountered have been with their delivery service. We are in the process of remodeling our home, and a couple of months ago, I ordered building materials such as flooring and OSB. When placing my order, I was assured the materials would be delivered to the location of my choice, and I paid $150 for delivery. Everything went smoothly at that time.
Last week, I placed another order for additional building materials. Being 8 months pregnant, I opted for delivery again, expecting it to be brought inside. I didnât mind paying close to $200 this time, as long as the service included bringing the items indoors.
However, the experience was frustrating. The delivery driver called on their way and asked where I wanted the materials placed. I specifically stated they should be brought inside, right by the front door. He responded positively, saying âawesome.â But upon arrival, he claimed I hadnât paid for the service to include bringing the items inside. When I explained that I had paid $150 and that it wasnât an issue during my previous delivery, he refused to accommodate the request. To make matters worse, it was pouring rain at the time. It was a frustrating contradiction to be told on the phone that it could be done, only to have him refuse upon arrival.
I called Menards, and they explained that their delivery service is now outsourced, meaning their drivers no longer bring items inside. If thatâs the case, the delivery fee should be reduced to reflect the limited service. Charging $150 for a delivery that simply involves dropping off a $400 order in the rain is unreasonable and...
Read moreWasn't ever all that great of a store or customer service. I would rather go to TSC or Ace or even Lowes frankly. The customer service is hardly applaudable. Got a steel mailbox to replace the old one 2 days ago. Yesterday got a steel mounting bracket for the new box, thinking it should work. I get the box and materials out and work on putting it up together, being as tom we have mail again. But, of course, the materials i.e. the screws to mounting the bracket to the wood post already there wouldn't go in all the way (junk). Then, even as those wouldn't work right, trying to mount the box onto the bracket, and the instructions (yes I read them) are faulty and confusing. The first 3 steps are simple to follow, but then on the back it gives you step 4 which includes THREE types of boxes And TWO different ways to mount the bracket to the box. Both are in step 4 apparently. So I try both ways because that's what they show to do, it looks like. But of course, if you do the first picture you can't do the second, and vice versa. If the holes match up for mounting it on the outside, they Won't match up for inside, and vice versa. How confusing. So I tried calling the store where I got all the materials, takes a minute for someone at the front to answer and send me to someone to help with mailboxes, and I wait another 3-4 minutes for someone to answer. But nope. Terrible customer service. THIS is a perfect example Why I hardly go here anymore. Not even sure if y'all deserve even 2 stars....
Read moreI often have mixed feelings about shopping at Menards. The constant piped-in jingle used to be a bit much, but thankfully, they've toned it down recently. The prices are not that different when you factor in that the mail-in rebate is basically a joke. They don't even provide a discount for Military/Veterans like most other home stores.
Currently, I'm building a deck and chose some specific decking from Menards because I liked the look, even though it was a bit pricier. I instructed my contractor to order it, and Menards promised delivery this morning. However, they arrived two hours late, leaving the construction crew idle.
To make matters worse, the driver didn't have the proper equipment to move the material, so they just dumped it in my front yard, right by the road. Now, the contractor's team has to haul it almost 150 feet to the back yard where the deck is being built.
Additionally, this poorly executed delivery cost more than double what another local supplier is charging me, for a larger quantity of material. They also have the means to drive it back to the construction site.
While Menards does carry some unique items that other home improvement stores don't, I find it's usually not...
