Poplar Jewelry & Loan — Attraction in Parkville

My husband and I stopped into this pawn shop for the first time earlier this evening. My husband was actually in the market for an Xbox game or something to that effect and of course I took the opportunity to browse the women's bridal rings and sets. First when we walked in I was truly amazed at how beautiful and clean the store was and how much inventory they had. I've been in a lot of pawn shops that are just dingy and you almost just don't even want to buy anything because it's just so cramped and crowded with merchandise. Everyone that worked there seemed to be so nice and so down to earth and even though it was busy they took their time with each customer. My husband was initially working with Chad to look at Xbox consoles but soon the attention shifted and focused onto me purchasing a beautiful diamond wedding ring. My husband and I are celebrating our 14th anniversary next week and he really wanted to do something nice for me and we saw this ring that was truly stunning. We initially wanted to put it on layaway but did not have the funds to do so at that time and hoped that it would be available later on that week so that we could come back and put it on layaway. Chad suggested that we apply for financing and we did and were approved for the full amount. Chad walked us through the process and it did not take long before I was wearing my ring and walking out the door. I wear a size 9 ring and so you can imagine my surprise that the ring fit perfectly and did not even need to be sized!! Chad cleaned it up for me and the process was done!!

Let me just say that as anyone knows first impressions are lasting. And everyone who works there -- especially Chad -- truly made a lasting first impression upon my husband and myself that truly will last a lifetime!! We were so impressed with everyone including Kevin the manager, of course Chad our salesman who is the assistant manager, and Dave and Colin and Jacob who are salesman. We were asking questions of everyone and everyone seemed to play a part in getting us in and getting us out in a timely fashion but also making sure that we were informed and making sure that we were happy and in agreement with everything from the word go. I have never had such a wonderful time at a pawn shop. Most employees at pawn shops are sketchy and always trying to make deals and you always feel like they're trying to get over on you somehow. But not this place and not these people!! For our first time visiting I can say it definitely will not be our last. Shout out to the whole team and we will let everyone know that if they're looking for beautiful jewelry at reasonable prices in a warm inviting and clean atmosphere with staff who truly care and will go to extra mile then look no further than Poplar Pawn and Loan in Parkville!!

By far the best pawn shop in Maryland period!!!! Jim and the staff are the best. They treat you like you are a guest and welcome you. Most pawn shops have the wrong attitude and seem annoyed when you enter their shop. This establishment is by far the best in Maryland. Low interest loan on my Rolex is a HUGE plus. Other pawns shops charge $250 interest on every thousand. Not at Poplar, I was charged ONLY around $350 interest on a $5500 loan!!!! That makes it much easier for me to get my watch back. At any other shop I would have paid almost $1400 in just interest making it almost impossible to get my item back. Most places feed on your desperation for funds and exploit the fact that you are I need of funds. This shop is actually here to help you out. They understand that having repeat customers is better than taking advantage of people who are already financially unstable at the moment. GREAT JOB POPLAR PAWN AND JEWELRY.

Also I read the review of the guest which was late paying on his loan and stated that his item was gone when he came back. I can say that has to be false. I purposely was late picking up but within the grace period. I called the day my payment was due and asked if I could stop in a week and pay for item in full. The staff member who answered the phone stated to me that I have 10 day grace period. I came about 6 days after the initial 30 day loan period and had NO ISSUE picking up my item. I was not charged extra or had any issue whatsoever and that was on Rolex watch. THIS IS A HONEST AND PROFESSIONAL ESTABLISHMENT!!!!

I visited Poplar on a Friday after work without notice, interested in a first-time customer loan with no interest for the first 30 days. My transaction was fairly large and time-consuming, but Kevin, the manager, took care of me himself with a warm welcome and no wait. (I later learned that he was working the floor to give his weekend crew some well-deserved time off.) I was treated with resect and courtesy throughout the entire transaction, which was important to me as I find the pawn business intimidating. Kevin offered a larger loan amount than I'd expected, pointed out the grace period on payback terms, and even graciously escorted me to my car himself. I was so pleased that I returned on Monday to sell some silver and gold pieces, and this time Chad conducted the sale with a bit of input from Kevin. Once again, the offer was better than expected without any haggling, and within an hour a mixed bag of outdated and broken pieces became easy cash in hand. Next trip, I'm likely to be a shopper - because this place is a high-end...
