I really don't like to give bad reviews because everybody deserves to have an "off" day but this was so absurd, that I have to do it. We got a room on New Year's Eve. My fur baby goes everywhere with me and they were accommodating in that regard & have actual "pet friendly" rooms. These are very convenient rooms to have! The sliding glass door opens up to an area for your pets. Sweet!! I was born & raised in Canon City & the Quality Inn rooms used to be pretty fancy. (Especially to a teenager/young adult). The rooms now, are not what I remember them to be. This night, it was a cold, snowy night & after awhile we noticed the heater was blowing cold air. When I tried calling the front desk, the phone didn't work either. So, I head down to the front desk to talk to the girl about my heater not working. I was told the maintenance man was gone for the night & she had just rented the last pet friendly room so there was nothing she could do. 😳😳😳 Umm... we have no heater. She then offered to get us a couple of extra blankets (which we never got btw) for our inconvenience. 🤔 Did she notice it was snowing outside?!?! I also told her I would have called down but the phone wasn't working either. Oh. I believe was her response. 🤦 She then said she could come down & try to adjust the heater to which I said, there's not much to adjust..?? It's hot/cold or high/low... What can you adjust?? 🤷 To which she says, well I don't know but I can try to turn it up. Turn it up?? To... What?? Hi?? At this point we are basically just staring at each other. She wants to come down to adjust my hi/low heater & my SO is in the shower so that isn't going to work & that's where it was left. We ended up having to go get a heater to put in the room. Apparently they didn't have one to offer for such occasions. No new room, no "extra blankets for our inconvenience" & no working phone was offered either. Discount you ask?? 😂😂😂 No. So, that was my experience. Pretty disappointing compared to what it used to be like there. I don't think I'll be staying there again. The room was run down & dirty too & the comforter was so thin that had we not gotten our own heater they likely would have found us frozen to death in...

Disappointed Loyal Customer....

I ultimately didn't get the room I reserved. I found out the room was wrong when I walked in the door. Went back down to the desk and they said that all the King rooms are closed due to renovations. There was also a note that stated that I was advised. Earlier that morning I received an email to contact the property. When I called that morning the front desk lady "Kittie" told me that I was "Prepaid and my reservation was all set". So, I was then called a liar when I was told that there was a note stating I was advised. Had I known when I called, I would've made a reservation elsewhere.

I understood that this wasn't the agent's fault that I was working with. I asked her if there was any way we could get into a king room or any compensation, she said there was nothing she could do.

Now my hands were tied as it was 3pm (check-in time) and we had plans at 4. So I was left with no choice but to stay.

Upon checkout, I did speak with Kittie and she said she "doesn't remember notating my account". Said that she was sorry, there was nothing she could do. There was also a gentleman standing next to her giving me every excuse in the world for the issue. I just simply stated that this was a huge disappointment and I would be contacting corporate to get this resolved. They didn't seem to care.

I wrote a contact form and received a response that I had the option of staying elsewhere, so there is nothing they can do to "fix" this. Mind you, I simply asked for a partial refund or a coupon for my next stay.

So here's my review: The place is not worth $100/night. The staff takes no responsibility for their errors. The Continental Breakfast consisted of a variety of breads, some scrambled eggs and dry seasoned potatoes. The place has a musty smell. No signage at places of renovations to keep people safe. The staff pretty much calls their customers liars. The beds need replacing.

The list of cons could...

I would NOT recommend anyone stay here. This place is literally falling apart at the seams, has shotty WiFi, and reeks of marijuana.

Let’s talk of the falling apart first. Everywhere you look, there’s a maintenance issue. The tiles on the stairs are missing or falling apart, there are stains on each and every carpet under your feet, and avoid the swimming pool at all costs - it’s a liability suit waiting to happen. After dinner, walking to my room and waking up to go to breakfast, I was accompanied by the sweet stench of marijuana that seemingly made its way up through the staircase - further increasing my appetite for some midnight munchies, but nonetheless annoying because my kids were constantly asking where the skunk was.

Overall, skip this place and stay in Pueblo. Not that Pueblo is really any better, but they have better accommodations. It’s not family friendly and the customer service is less than accommodating. For the management that may be reading this review, your establishment could be remarkable. Put some effort into your hotel, fix it up, slap a fresh coat of paint on the outside, fix your tiles and change that carpet out to something made this century. Your bar area is fantastic but for some reason or another, you stopped serving hot food. Get those grills going and start serving quality meals. Your breakfast bar is subpar at best and again, another liability waiting to happen - you’re going to get someone sick and if that person has any influence with health and safety related to food services, you’re done. Lastly, your swimming pool. SHUT THAT MOTHER DOWN and fix it properly. Your side stairs are broken, your filter accesses (both of them) had lids that didn’t properly secure, where a guest could easily walk and have their foot fall in, twisting, spraining, or breaking something. It’s a liability that...

Although the front desk team was very kind, this place was without a doubt the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. My husband and I wanted to stay as close as possible to the Royal Gorge bridge and saw this place had average reviews and low prices so we gave it a chance. I wish we hadn’t. To start, we booked a king bed room and upon check in were told it wasn’t pet friendly so they would have to put us in another room that is, which turned out to be two queen beds and was very obviously a dedicated pet room as there was black pet hair EVERYWHERE. It was disturbing to see how much hair there was in every corner and even all over the bed sheets. The room also had a strong odor of pee. You could tell this place hasn’t been cleaned in ages. Even after the cleaning lady came by, the room was still filthy. All of the pet rooms were also right next to an entry door which of course was very busy all throughout the night, naturally, our dog barked at all of the loud noises and made it difficult to get good sleep. We stayed one night after visiting the Gorge and decided it wasn’t even worth it to stay for our remaining vacation and went home early! Luckily we were able to get a refund. Save yourself some time and money and don’t book here!!!

It seems like this place was built in the 60ies, but not much changed in the rooms. Our A/C didn’t come on when we checked in, so we had to wait for a repair person to come in and reset the breaker. It turned on. However, later that night we found out that only the fan was on, but there was no cooling. Our room really needed some maintenance. There were 3 kinds of paint on every surface including the electrical outlets and picture frames on the walls. The floors were stained. The bathroom ceiling was moldy and the fan could wake up the dead. Also, a lot of items were chipped/broken, such as security latch on the door. Also, there were no smoke detectors! I’m not sure if that’s even legal. Now to be fair, there were some pros. The room was quiet (because I believe we didn’t have any neighbors), it had an ok smell, I don’t think there were any bed bugs and we had an ok-ish breakfast. I will definitely not stay here again.

Excellent family reunion venue! I had a few concerns about hosting our family reunion at the Quality Inn in Canon City. The facility isn't as nice as it once was. Rooms are in need of modern upgrades but they're clean. However the feedback from family members was probably the best we've ever had. I think the key was having a conference room for the 2 day event where meals were served allowing people to socialize, play games, kids playing in the swimming pool nearby, and good food and service, all without having to leave the hotel. Thank you Blain Heckard, the food service manager, who did fantastic job! I've given a 4 star rating because of the worn conditions I'm sure management and owners are aware of, however I do recommend anyone considering a reunion if any sort considering this venue. You might be pleasantly surprised. Give Blain a call, I'm sure he'll take good care of you.
