We visited during the holidays two weeks before Christmas, so they had festive wreaths and Christmas Trees amongst canned goods, produce like apples, and various winter foods like potatoes/other roots, etc., bottled cider, etc. They also had hot cider and cocoa for $1 at a little self serve station. It was really cute. Oh, and a bin of pumpkins outside with a "Free" sign (supply and demand lol).
The only reason for the minus 1 star, is the outrageous prices. I have always been a firm believer AND supporter in buying local and small, but I do not think there is any justification to...dare I say it...price gouge. Christmas Trees I get- especially so close to Christmas, but everything else was so incredibly high in prices... more than Isoms, and more than WholeFoods...I understand the location would also include a mark-up (Madison/Cliff Farms), but I still do not see how that would justify how high this all was. I won't list any exact prices so you can decide for yourself, but I probably won't...
Read moreWe passed by there on Sunday, out of curiosity. The strawberries smell so fresh and delicious. We bought some big lovely tomatoes, a gallon of strawberries (by the time we drove home 1/3 of the bucket was gone. It made an excellent “car snack”), Amish butter and some slushies. Kids picked mixed berry & hubby and I had the peach cider! I must go back for the peach cider slushy, YUM-O!!! (You have to try it!) My husband went out to the field to take pictures of the strawberries and see how they were being picked. He met the owner and thanked him for the hard work and commitment he has for his farm. A very friendly fellow, I’m only sorry we don’t recall his name. As a former chef, hubby enjoys fresh ingredients & being able to see first hand & experience food at it’s most natural state, well it made quite an impression on him. I see a lot of yummy future dinners in our household, from farm to table! We can’t wait to go back and try out the rest of the goodies. We’re definitely happy...
Read moreReally nice farmer's market located on Hwy.72 in Madison across from the Target shopping center. They have beautiful fresh and locally grown fruits and vegetables, local honey, fresh eggs, some homeade jams/jellies/pickles/peppers, etc. You won't be disappointed with anything you buy here, as everything always tastes WONDERFUL and like they picked it that morning!! Their prices are a little steep, but then again, food just costs more these days. It costs a little more to buy locally and feed your family fresh fruits and vegis that not only taste 100 times better, but are definitely much more healthy for them. Believe me though when I tell you it's worth a few more dollars, especially when you won't find a single bite being left on their plates or in the refrigerator to be tossed away because it's...
