Update 6/24/25: The grass from here introduced cinch bugs to our lawn and Massey showed us how serious the problem was. It looked amazing when I laid it down and then not even a season goes by and the entire section died! Now, I have to spend even more money to fix this growing issue. Original: I have no idea why the other reviews are so nasty but I LOVE SOD Depot! We’ve purchased sod from multiple locations in the past year: Lukas, Everglades, and now here. This is probably the best sod in central Florida and the service is just amazing. The key is to do it in person and right when they get delivered! If grass sits out for more than 24 hrs, it starts drying up. We had this problem with Everglades grass. We picked up grass the next day and it was extremely dry. The Orlando location for Sod Depot is simply just very close and convenient. I wish I knew sooner! Spring is also the best time to put in grass ahead of the rain season. Last year at Lukas, we had to wait several weeks due to rain season before they were even able to cut the grass for purchase.
Anthony at the Orlando pick up location is super nice and helpful. I absolutely adore the Clermont location too because there are so many options! Amanda first helped me where I scouted what we needed and I came back with my husband and filled up the car. The gentleman who worked there this past weekend in March was just the best! I feel bad that I didn’t get his name. He was incredibly helpful taking us around and helping us buy the full cart of plats. The Asian jasmine, painted croton, and the cordylines are simply unbeatable! The drive is about 1 hr away from my home but completely worth it! I’m so incredibly grateful that Apenberry in College Park recommended this business because I saved so much money (esp by comparison to Lukas which is 50% more expensive for a smaller amount). The staff at Sod Depot Orlando and Clermont were the best. I’d be going back as soon as I get...
Read moreAfter making my first order (1 pallet) they showed up a day early with 4 pallets of the wrong grass. If I have not been home they would have left it.
Two days later they delivered my correct order. I found nothing wrong with it and decided a larger order was ok.
So I ordered 4 more pallets (stupid!) I took a day off from work to install 4 pallets. As of 2 PM - no grass. I called and got "Oh we have a new driver, they're loading the pallets now" I replied that would only leave me 2 hours before dark (its winter) the "gentleman" at Sod Depot chuckled and said "Yeah!.
At 4 PM they showed up. 4 pallets of St Augustine, purportedly cut "that morning".
Some of the sod pieces were 2 feet long, some 4 feet long, some had 1.5 inches of a dirt base, on others their blade had cut through the roots of the grass and the pieces simply fell apart when lifted. One pallet had nice pieces on top but the remainder of the pallet appeared to be much older than the others (i.e. dry, browning, blades crisp and dry) NOT cut that day by any means.
I finished laying the sod at 10:30 PM that night.
Within days Dollar Weeds were growing wild through the sod.
Your experience may be better than mine (God willing) but I would encourage you to look at other options. They appear to be very much NOT advocates of customer service. There are, literally, tons of sod dealers in Central Florida, shop around: I wish I had!
For my fellow Veterans, consider a Veteran owned Sod Farm. I did not discover one until it...
Read moreFire ants in 4/8 pallets and 1 pallets have a some pieces covered in oil stains. The pallets aren't 400 square more like 360. I had to call 3 times to just get an idea of what time the delivery was. I install sod on a regular basis atlest once a month I've been in business here in Central Florida for over 11 years the service and lack of professionalism with this company is horrible I got 8 pallets of provista for what was measured for 2800 square feet and I'm still short sod I use a GPS dedicated device called a moasure it's extremely accurate I'm usually withing 100sq feet in accuracy. So there pallets arnt 400 Sq also when I was short I called asking if they had a pallet for pick Brandon answered and said "yes no problem " so I told him put my name on it I'm heading up be there in 45 mins he sells the pallet before I get there so now I drove over 45 just to have to drive another 45 mins house because he side he hold it when I got there he stated I can hold pallets without a deposit. Then why didn't he ask for one when we spoke on the phone when I asked him to hold it?? ? Not a real American business and not a honest person I hate lies and I hate when people waste your time I'm a small business I don't have 1 and a half hours to waste driving around just to get acres over.
Do not buy from this company you will be disappointed plenty of other better sod...
