Track layout is fun, not that difficult but will make you work to go around it. Karts are sub-par (based on the ones I got to drive). It says on their website that you must be at least 60 inches tall to drive 'em although I had a really hard time reaching the pedals even with a booster seat and a makeshift pad from a car seat pad at 62 inches. Pedal extenders will help elevate the karts and experience of those at 60 inches. On-track staff was reluctant to giving me a different kart because some "regulars/repeaters" had already asked for the kart I wanted. So, I made sure to ASK before my next session and staff had said OK. Come my next session, I was told to get into a different kart and I politely said "No, I'll wait and drive the next session." Staff replied saying that the person who was already driving will buy another session and will want the same kart. At this point, I was irritated a bit and said something along the lines of "Well, I'm already on the list before they'll even get to buy another session so why not just put me in that kart? This is my last session and so I like to set a good-time." Mind you, the person was still on the track and have YET to purchase another session. I refused (slightly demanding, I know) to join the session cause I made sure to ask before then and got a confirmation. I asked multiple times if it's ok for me to join the next session, got no definite answer. Eventually, I was given the kart I asked for, which I'm grateful of, but the experience was more frustrating than rewarding cause I know there was no lack of communication on my part. I would've accepted a no to the change kart request in the first place and if I got an answer to the "next session" question instead of being told OK and expecting and this could've been avoided. Also, I know business might be better off with the regulars and this is not entitlement rather a "let down" moment. Just hope on-track staff just had better customer service and/or communication. On the other hand, front desk staff were welcoming and attended to all needs. I assume that names would come up on the TV displayed outside, although it wasn't working during my visit. I didn't like the fact that we had to ask if we would be on that session or not. On-track staff wasn't calling out names until a few people lined up and only then you'll find out if you're in for that session. If you never did come up, you'll probably end up missing a session. Would be better off if they called out the names before each session ended and more time for racers to put on their gear. Again, I assume that because there were some regulars during my visit, staff wanted to wait for their preferences. No hate, I know it's business. Track location is near businesses which is good.
*I like to go looking for different tracks when I'm in a new town and for me to have the best experience, I tend to ask for the best karts the business can offer and to get my money's worth. This is also how I decide if I'd like to come back and unfortunately, as fun as the track is, the karts are not built for someone like my size. I've had some bad experiences and have never thought of writing a review but this one was by far the most memorable.
Highlights:
Affordable for a 3-race package compared to the ones I've been to. Laid-back course. Karts not suitable for people even at 60 inches. Close to other businesses. Good track for someone just wanting to experience karting and not picky and/or competitive...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad been a few times before and enjoyed it but today everything went south. First race went fine but my brothers cart ran out of gas mid race. Second race I was swapped into a cart right before it started from a broken cart and this new cart had about 50% power of the cart my first race. Last couple laps engine starts to sputter and last lap I'm going about 2 mph and limp it back to the pit where it dies.
I told the staff I think the cart ran out of gas and it wasn't right the entire race and he just says sorry dude nothing I can do. So I go inside to talk to the front desk. He then calls in the mechanic which proceeds to blame me for the cart problems and says I blew the motor! What? How could I even do that. The cart was driven within the limits it was designed to, I never once went off track or touched the brake it was that slow. He also ridiculed me for not stopping on track when the engine started to fail. It's not my problem the cart failed and I am not about to risk my safety to walk off a hot track. If you've seen how people fly into each other and the barriers here you know how ridiculous a statement that is.
Overall considering the drive to get to the track and the price per race, your better off going to track 21 or k1. The track and facilities are incredible but the staff is very unprofessional and the carts are abused and poorly maintained. The carts are not equally matched as far as power output and tire life. Some are clean and some are covered in mud.
At the end of the visit I was comped 1 free race but I won't be using it. The interaction with the track staff and mechanic were enough to keep me away which is a shame for the track since we usually come with a group of 6-8 people and run 3 races. Hope they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreChecked out today for the first time. Good size track. Do have some suggestions/recommendations to add. When we went there was a drifting race next to the track great to watch while you wait your turn to ride, but very noisy we couldn't hear the the staff when they called our name out when it was our turn. Would be helpful to have some type of speaker system installed around the bench area. Also add more shade with the benches there was big groups which took all the seating area and that Texas sun is not forgiving. Also, there were a couple karts that I got on where the heat of the engine nicked my elbow. Should have installed some type of heat resistant material over it for us wide frame folks. A couple of the karts were fast and others not so much even when the pedal was depressed all the way down. Bring your own helmet (if you have one) and gloves the steering wheel is pretty tough on your hands. Some type of concession stand for small snacks/sandwiches/hot dogs/bbq would be nice. Overall great place for kids and...
