My sisters and I were on vacation together when we happened upon this store. In the window I saw the life-size Vegeta figure, my youngest sister saw the marqee for Galaxian, and our middle sister yells, "This will be the PINNACLE OF TODAY'S ADVENTURES," and so we went inside! People of the internet, when I tell you that this place has all of the nostalgia and all of the new-cool-merch energy that you want to find at one of those big comic conventions, I mean it. They sell things that you would've never thought of and didn't know you wanted, and all of the things you do think of and always want, for decent and reasonable prices. Keychains? Oh, of course. Retro consoles and games? Absolutely, some rare and interesting ones too. Tiny music boxes that play the theme song to your favorite anime and marquee title cards for your favorite classic Atari games from old arcade cabinets? DUDE. I wouldn't have even considered that as a possibility! Who SELLS those? And why do I now need one so badly??? If I hadn't already been shopping all over the outlet and my wallet was already almost empty, I would have bought like five. (Next time, I guess.) The staff are incredibly friendly and they indulged an old-school geek like me in a lovely conversation. They don't pressure you to buy anything and they feel more like the friends you were trying to find than employees. Any store can sell stuff, but it is the people selling it to you that make all the difference. And although I am terrible with remembering names (Anthony and Alex...?), they were particularly wonderful and I hope we can have more game talks next time we're in town! If it wasn't obvious already, we loved this place and although we live hours away, we're already planning on coming back next time we're in town. Thanks for giving us such an awesome experience on our vacation! FIVE STARS!!!

I've been to the other "The Game Room" stores in North Charleston, this store is a bit smaller then the Tanger Outlet one in North Charleston. This was my first time in this one. This one doesn't have as many games as the other two, and all the items here are more expensive then the other two stores as well. T-Shirts for 25$ is quite a bit, especially since i saw a Sonic shirt you can get at WALMART for way cheaper. Also why is there literally Skylander Creation Crystal's and a few Magic Items but no ACTUAL Skylanders? And the actual thing is that their on is a small shelf thats in a pretty small spot and can be hard to miss, they should be in a bin at least somewhere else in the store with the Disney figures too. This is more like a anime and game store, but way too much anime stuff and random blind boxes, some of the stuff here was possibly bootleg, specifically the Sonic plushies i saw did not look official, and look like they come from a flea market. This is just a pricey anime game store. If it's called "The GAME Room" it should have more games like the other ones, not so much merch and toys. Also Pokemon hair clips SHOULD NOT BE 15$! As a lover of the 2 other stores, Rivers Ave. one being my personal favorite, This is the worst of the three stores that ive been in.

Was on vacation and decide to check out what retro game stores was around the area found the game room and wow what an awesome store A lot of great options to choose from a lot of cool stuff to look at it was cool that they had consoles available for free play and the staff there was phenomenal Anthony the manager was super friendly super chill Alex was awesome at showing me around the store and holding a conversation and kai she was super friendly and just added to the experience altogether I truly felt like I was their friend versus a customer and that's always a great experience to have I 100% recommend the store and I cannot wait to return and come back to the store The staff made it a great rememberable experience and the prices were also very reasonable and fair all around great store

Kai is the definition of what customer service should be like. I've never written a review for anywhere or anything in my life, but I cannot stress enough how much I love shopping here and express how Kai is such a huge asset for your store. Everytime I've talked to her and the other workers there, you can sense the passion and love they have for the store. We need more places like this with workers who are this passionate!!!

Recently I purchased a Wii controller that she tested with me there. Seemed just fine. Got home and won't turn on with batteries. Called the store right away and Kai answered offering any assistance she could over the phone. Came back the next day and tested it to troubleshoot the problem. Was able to exchange it because the return policy is 3 days with the receipt, store credit or exchanges only. We tested that one and all was good. Took it home and no problems! She was so quick to help and so nice!

The store has an assortment of retro games and anime EVERYWHERE you look. You get to see and play the old school consoles. Figures, plushies, and Hello Kitty. They even have the big resin statues I've only seen on the internet. It's a must go to destination if you're visiting.

Thank you for having this safe "nerdy" place for us Myrtle...
