Let me start by saying The Speakeasy comp'd our (group of 10) drinks. We did tip the waiter, but he was part of the problem to begin with.
We had made a reservation for 10 at 6:30. They told us we might have to sit outside, but thought they could work us into inside and definitely could if we split into at least 2 groups.
As we started arriving... we were seated outside and told if room became available, we could come inside. At the time...it did not look full and looked to me to be at least 2 areas that could have held 10 of us. Anyway outside we went and the manager came and started 2 propane overhead heaters....I asked him if the bottles were full...and he said YES.
As others showed up, they wanted to see what the inside looked like...and 2 ladies were treated very rudely and in a very condescending tone.....by a bartender and OUR waiter.
We'd been there all of 10 minutes, and most of us wanted to just leave. THEN one of the "full" propane tanks....ran empty so we lost half our heat....We really wanted to leave, but decided we would stay and try one of their signature/craft cocktails....priced from $19 down to $15. Can you just get a shot of Jack...NO, how about a beer (any beer)...NO, how, about a glass of wine....NO. Their signature cocktails made with THEIR own distilled Gin or Vodka....Salvation Spirits. A Manhattan or Old Fashioned made with Gin or vodka....some of our group decided it was OK...nothing to brag about and nobody liked it enough to order another. My wife and I went the simple route....a Dirty Martini...Vodka, vermouth and olive juice. First observation the pours were skimpy....and for $15 @#$% skimpy. Second observation...its hard to fubar a Dirty Martini...but the Speakeasy Mixologist did it times 2. I took a couple sips....and pitched it out. My wife finally finished hers.....
All in all, none of the 10 had a decent time. Most said the Salvation Spirits liquor wasn't worth drinking. Everybody left in a sour mood, wanting for a fun place with good liquor, some of us left not only in a sour mood, but with bad tastes on our toungues...we all went back to our place and had good liquor we'd brought with us.
Don't waste your time and hard earned money on The Speakeasy and Salvation Spirits. Can you imagine what this would have been had our drinks not...
Read moreWalking into The Speakeasy at Salvation Spirits Distillery, my party and I had no real expectations. We were just looking for a casual spot for a drink and a bite. Little did we know we were about to stumble upon one of the most memorable nights we've had in a long time.
Let's start with the food, which was nothing short of phenomenal. The braised beef sliders were so incredibly tender and flavorful that I actually had to ask our server if I could compliment the cook personally. They were that good. The meat melted in my mouth, and every component worked in perfect harmony.
But as incredible as the food was, the drinks were the undisputed star of the show. The cocktail menu is a masterclass in mixology. We decided to be adventurous and try several, and each one was more impressive than the last. The clear standout, however, was the Gin Old Fashioned. I was skeptical at first, but it was a revelation, perfectly balanced, complex, and unbelievably smooth. It redefined what a classic cocktail could be. In fact, we were so blown away by the quality of their spirits that we ended up buying four bottles to take home!
The atmosphere is cool and intimate, the service was knowledgeable and welcoming, and the entire experience was a wonderful surprise from start to finish. The Speakeasy at Salvation Spirits isn't just a bar; it's a destination. Do yourself a favor and go. You'll be talking about it for days, and you'll probably leave with a bottle (or four)...
