I just moved to the 32801 zip code area and found this place by googling fun summer day camps in Orlando The rate was $20/day or $85 a week. We decided to enroll our son for the day just to see what this place was really like. SO GLAD WE DID! If you care about your kids you will steer clear from this dump.
It was not hard finding this place (the reason for the 1 star) if I could, I would leave a big fat 0.
There are 2 sets of doors, we walked in at 6:50am and waited- maybe staff was in restroom. No biggie. From the first set of doors you could see about 10-15 kids already there in skates behind the second set of doors. A teenager walked around the corner and said walk inside to sign in, so we did.
We walk inside the second set of doors and there’s a foldable table and again, no one there to greet anyone or check kids in.
There were some adults but they were on their phones so I thought they were parents waiting for staff?? A few minutes pass and the teenager comes back and asks me “for the day or week?” I said “day please.” Again, no smile or any sort of enthusiasm at all.. she has me fill out a form (front and back) I figured maybe she is just a helper and not employee?
As I was waiting to see an adult walk in I hear a someone come out of the first set of doors and shout out loud and super obnoxiously to the teenager “it ain’t 7o’clock yet, why we letting kids in” a parent walking in at the same time dropping her kids off said “why is she always in a bad mood saying things like that?” The employee then gets confrontational and shouting even louder “I don’t have an attitude, you’ll know when I have one…like I said, I don’t have an attitude” and continues to mumble and talk to herself… The mom walks out and says “we pay you for a service, you need to start acting like it or find a new job. “ THIS SUMMER SKATE CAMP NEEDS NEW EMPLOYEES ASAP.
Despite the check in drama we left our kid here in hopes that they would keep the kids busy with activities and fun- as advertised…Do not Pat attention to the other reviews of this place they have to be fake because this place was a dump and complete sh*t show.
Sorry to say thats not the end of this review…
When his dad picked him up they did not bother asking for ID or even his freaking name. (His dad wasn’t there at drop off and we have never been to this place before so not sure how they were able to verify if that was his dad or not)
When we asked our son how his day was he said this was the worst place he has ever been to, he saw several roaches, all of the employees were “really mean and grumpy.” They played 2 games and then watched movies the rest of the day…. They would not allow him to call us on his own cell phone- they threatened to take his phone away if he pulls it out.
He also said that a small child asked if she could get water and a teacher said “no, but you can be quiet.” OVERALL THIS PLACE WAS DISGUSTING. THEY NEED NEW EMPLOYEES ASAP.. until then DO NOT LEAVE YOUR KIDS HERE IF YOU CARE FOR THEM...
Read moreMy daughter wanted to celebrate her 10th birthday skating so we chose Astro skate, even after reading the reviews. When making her reservation I chose the package that included upgraded skates, the pizzas, soda and whatever little things came with it. For $172, I felt it was inclusive seeing we had to have atleast 9 kids for the party, everything listed was included. I asked questions, even asked questions about concerns I seen in the reviews posted. We had 15 kids total for our party, 5 of which came in later during the party. 2 were made to pay, even admission for the adults.. there were so many situations in this party that were extremely messy and chaotic such as the food coming out 30 min after our host was “starting it” food order for the party came out staggered and after others had order. My infant children were super hungry at this point, and not happy, to say the least. Side note pepperonis are an up charge on the $19 subpar cheese pizza. Also, they personally give out two slices to each child (child only) bc the pizzas in the package are only for “the kids”.. no mention of that. So fast forward to the end, the bill comes. Knowing I paid $72 for the deposit, the bill should be $100 plus the $20 in extra snacks I order. The host brings me the bill and we go over the charges and it’s $260… … I was like um no. Ill speak with the Manager Tim.. this is not what I was told when booking the party. It’s 9 kids pizza and all that $172. Done. Possibly tip the host. So Manager Tim came over and was so unbelievable in the way this situation turned out. He tried to tell me that the last 5 kids that came in were all charged $17.99 each.. we went back and forth to were he told me my 2 infant children weren’t mine and that I was a liar. His words. While I was holding my 2 year old.. he was so smug and arrogant in the way that he was talking to all the adults in the party- but to call me a liar.. pretty much ever adult in the party was tense at this point.. he ended up taking off the 5 kids, the the bill became the $100 I was told plus what I had ordered separately. Tim said he wouldn’t write a receipt or an itemized bill, told me he could e-mail me one. He was more than unprofessional to the point I was embarrassed. He caused a scene a was extremely rude and disrespectful to everyone in the party. He’s lucky football was on so the men were somewhat patient. The end of this party was mind blowing to us and we will never be back. We will, however, share with 10 people about...
Read moreWe always have went on Christian Skate Night. We stopped going last year when they played more secular music than Christian.
But we decided after others recommended we would give it a chance again this year.
The last 3 times we went this year were GREAT!!! They had a wide variety of music from the many many Christian artists who flood both the Christians and secular scene. No secular music besides children songs. (Hokie Pokie) I wish this 5-Star review could remain... but I must amend.
Last night we went. As soon as we came in the DJ started the night off with 2 secular songs. I went and asked the DJ if I was correct that is was still Christian skate night. (MAYBE THEY ENDED LAST MONTH) He assured me it was and I asked if he realized the last few songs none of them were Christian.
After this he played 1 Christian song and then 2 more secular songs! One of those songs was called "God is a woman" This is a song exclusively about sex. An innapropriate song to play for children and definitely at a Christian Skate.
I told the manager and despite the manager going up to talk to him at beginning of song DJ played the entire song!
The song is blasphemous and lascivious and I wouldn't consider it appropriate on any family friendly skate night, no less a Christian one. After this the DJ said 4 or 5 times said "Jesus lovers" in a less than sincere tone.
Afterward to satisfy the manager he played 2 country songs, 5 Kirk Franklin songs almost all in a row. Then a few more well known Christian rappers, Lacrae, KB and the God is by Kenye. Then played a few more secular songs.
If they are going to pick a DJ on Christian Skate night it might want to be someone who is willing to play Christian music and knows a variety. Definitely one mature enough to respect others beliefs.
I suppose I was only surprised because the other times we came had a wide variety of Christian music like rap, rock, R&B, worship and CCM all mixed very well and Most important to Christians who go out of their way to go to a Christian skate night. For it to be CHRIST centered music.
This was dissapointing and false advertising at best. What else does Christian skate night mean if it is not music?
Sad I thought we had a place to bring church kids and youth but as a pastor I wont recommend this place unless they change their DJ.
The manager tried and other staff have always been...
