Trails End Ice Cream Shop - Intervale Scenic Vista — Attraction in Conway

For the ice cream alone, I would give this 3 stars. 1 star for service.

Ice cream is fine, nothing special, but portions are huge, which seems to be a thing for some (not me). We ordered small pistachio and small blackberry (maybe black raspberry, I forgot). None of the flavors were particularly interesting. Both were huge and good but not great. Not enough flavor and not creamy or rich enough. Again, 3 stars for the ice cream alone (3 stars is about as low as I go with ice cream, because all ice cream is good and I would only go lower if I found a bug or hair or finger in it).

The wait was super long. 2 stars for that, and I am being kind here because I accept long waits for great ice cream on a warm summer evening. But this was excessive. Each transaction averaged 8 minutes. With only two people working, we waited over an hour. Many people left. Don't know why this took so long. Our server was nice enough.

The worst thing was COVID safety. 1 star for that. The company "encouraged" people to wear masks so only some customers wore them. Employees wore masks (or we would have left). They had ropes up but distances were not marked on the ground (like other better-run ice cream shops I frequent during the COVID pandemic), so few people kept the minimum 6 feet distance and I had to continually ask the person behind me to stop creeping up to within 1 foot. He didn't like that so it was a pretty unpleasant and hostile wait, which is what happens if a company allows people to take matters into their own hands.

I won't be coming back at least not until COVID is over and definitely not if there...

Huge scoops! Always a great selection with unexpected flavors in the mix. I had lemon chocolate chip and it was so good. It reminded me of lemon pie or meringue. The graham central was delicious, as usual. Edit 2025: Disappointed that they seem to have dropped their partnership with Bobby Sue's ice cream, still a good selection of flavors but I always looked forward to the local option! Still only one!! scoopable non-dairy option. I didn't ask this year yet but last year they had prepackaged non-dairy options upon request (which were rock-hard and I ended up barely being able to eat it with the dinky plastic...

Their small ice cream is only small in a sense that it's slightly smaller than my head. I can't tell if it was good or not, as I was preoccupied with trying to keep it from falling apart and melting all over. I left a serious puddle on a table.

If you are a human-sized person, you have to get their "kiddie" option, as it looks like 2 scoops at any other place. I think this was the biggest ice cream I've seen, regardless of the order size.

At first I thought it was an inside joke or the girls were trying to screw with the owners - but it's apparent from other reviews...
