I have been renting houses for the past twenty years in Corolla and have used almost all of the rental companies. In the past I never had a complaint. This year (June 2020) we rented a beach front house in Corolla from Corolla Classic Vacations. In the past I have rented from them and never had a problem but I am not a person who complains often. This year however, was a different story. We arrived at the rental agency and were told that we could use the property after 2 PM while we waited for the cleaners to be done. When we arrived we found the new owners of the property conducting a walk through of the property prior to closing the deal. There was a pest removal company on site conducting an inspection amongst other contractors conducting various inspections. Needless to say we could not use the property but no big deal. We met the new owners and they were very nice. In retrospect, I wish I got their name as we are from the same area in Northern Virginia. Four PM came and it was now check in time and the code to the lock didn't work, after contacting the rental office and trying four or five codes we had a winner. We went in and found a house that had obviously been neglected. The carpets had pee stains everywhere, one bath tub was not functional, really just a bunch of little stuff. We wrote it off to the fact that it was changing hands and the old owners were probably not interested in sinking money into maintenance on a house they were selling. Then the rain came and it persisted for three straight days. We made the best of it and watched movies, played cards etc. Then the ceiling in the basement started leaking. Filled a Colemen Cooler twice. We contacted the rental company and they sent someone out. We were told there was nothing they could do but both the rental company and new owners were aware of the problem and it was scheduled to be fixed. The next day, when we finally able to leave the house, we returned to a terrible smell on finished basement level. It was the very strong stench of mold. Oddly it didn't seem to be coming from the ceiling it was coming from a closet on the other end of the house. I suspect more water leaking in the wall. Then Thursday night the straw that broke the camel's back. My niece announced that there was a bug on her floor. You guessed it COCKROACHES. Friday morning we called the rental Office and told them what we had found and were told they couldn't do anything until after we left but it would be addressed. Friday afternoon yet another Roach camio and finally Sunday morning while we were packing up One climbing up the coffee pot. When I arrived home and unpacked all of my belongings into the driveway, so as not to contaminate my home, I remembered the pest control company and thought to myself "there is no way they didn't know about the bugs" Corolla Classic Vacations let me and my family check into a house with cockroaches. I called the rental office and was told they had no report of the leaking ceiling, although their employee told us that everyone knew. They told me the knew nothing about the roaches, even though I saw the pest control van in the driveway. They told me even now there was no evidence of roaches. That is when I offered to send the pictures I took that morning. I sent the pictures and two follow on requests for a status and got no reply. I almost forgot to mention that despite all of our efforts my wife caught a cockroach in our house the other day. Once again I contacted the rental office with no response 4 days later. When renting in the Outer Banks you have many choices. I hope you learn from my mistake and choose...
Read moreI am disappointed to tell you that we were actually shocked and appalled with the condition of the home we rented, Dune Deck through Corolla Classic Vacations To begin with, as soon as we arrived a man was leaving the rental with 2 small children. We assumed he had cleaned. If he had, it was an extremely poor job and he should have notified you about the condition of the house. We immediately noticed that there were no paper towels, no toilet paper and no trash bags as agreed upon in the contract that there would be a fresh roll in each bathroom and one roll of paper towels in the kitchen. I called and they were delivered. In addition to that the 2 major issues were the WiFi which did not work and the Air Conditioning on the middle floor which fluctuated from too warm to average. We called on Monday and someone came to repair the WiFi. It was not repaired. We were told someone would come install a new router. No one came and there was no follow up. We also called again and asked about the AC and were told we needed to wait for the technician. No follow up and no technician. We also had to call because the sliders in the Master on the 3rd floor shower were falling off the track. Someone did repair that. In addition the following are the issues we faced: *Tub was useless, the faucets are totally loose and broken off *Wine fridge doesn’t work *Landscaper comes and blows everything in to the pool *Decking around house poorly maintained causing splinters and screws sticking out that you can stub your toe on. Several of us got splinters *Lounge chair broken by the pool *downstairs door to pool did not lock *Many lightbulbs out in chandelier *Multiple screens have huge holes or have fallen out *Trash outside on the ground and around the pool which we cleaned up as much as possible *Floors on main level were filthy and we had to wash them *Flies everywhere *3 broken beach chairs provided. We were told there would be at least five Only a few burners on the gas grill worked which limited efficiency.
Overall, this rental was very poorly maintained and not at all what we agreed upon when we signed the contract and paid in full. Needless to say we entered and paid in good faith and Corolla Vacations did not do the same.
You should have someone go to these homes and inspect them regularly. No one would walk into this rental and think that it is acceptable to rent. I have been to nice resorts that cost less and everything is in great shape. I will never recommend Corolla Vacations to anyone nor will I rent...
Read moreSarah " the supposed Senior Director for Vacasa" has ducked voicemail after voicemail after voicemail (14 to date).
We had a three night reservation over Memorial day in North Carolina at Sound Serenity. Serene it was anything but. We arrived and the temperature was 87 degrees in the rental. The air conditioning was being "worked on" all week, and was "all fixed and checked" before we checked in. We had to wait until 11PM at night to have 3 window units placed in rental. That first night, wasted as we were promised repair after repair after repair.
The neighbor next door told us that the Air Conditioning had gone out the week before, causing those renters to leave early.
The next morning, as we attempted to make breakfast, magically the gas was out. Two hours later someone finally showed up. The gas had been turned off and they had no idea how or why. Shocker.
The "Property Manager" Scott moseyed over around 11. He tried to fix the Air Conditioner (way to try to use a non licensed employee), and failed. Called in a contractor, who made per his words " a one hour fix, and the system is shot". He was there until 2:30. He then proceeded to sit outside the rental for an hour after circling our car around the block. Day two shot.
The window units worked on and off. 2,000 square feet and 3 window units in late May in North Carolina is not ideal.
Scott "the Property Manager" said in front of both me and my other half that there would be a "full refund or credit" for the trouble. He lied right in front of us.
Upon the ridiculous amounts of back and forth with Scott, where he downright called us both liars and that he never said there would be a refund, he offered us $100 credit. $100.
Two weeks later of unanswered calls, voicemails and the such, I finally got him by using their dial directory and blowing up the rest of the office. He was then able to "authorize" up to $450. He tried to use excuses such as, well what if your home air conditioner was out, or the gas wasn't turned on. His attempt at logic was pathetic and once again as we all know what excuses are like, and we all have them, and they all stink.
He refused for a week to give me his supervisor's name, Sarah, and would absolutely not give her phone number. I once again started using their dial directory and got her. 13 Voicemails later, no answer.
This service, is pathetic and ultimately unacceptable. Maybe at this point, they may give some attention to this challenge that...
