This is one of the most happy, hopeful and saddest places I've ever visited. It is the point were the border wall between the US and Mexico stretches into the Pacific Ocean. Every weekend for a few hours the U.S. side is accessible and families separated by immigration status are able to meet and have a conversation through the tiny holes in the mesh. The U.S. side is otherwise barren with only Border Patrol agents and their vehicles roaming the area. Sunday, the US side allows visitors from the US (San Diego side) to enter the border zone between the US wall and the Mexican wall / fence. Both nations need a strong border and safe zones along that border, allowing families to come together in a shared space, as well as encouraging citizens from each country to interact and build on common ground. Cooperation is the ONLY way the border crisis will deescalate and one day be resolved.
