The state of our country makes me want to cry. I hope one day we can rethink the way they are and renew friendships with everyone around us. The fact that you can't even speak or wave across the wall to human beings on the other side speaks more volumes than anything anyone could say. We visited this place on one of our last days in the states and I'm so glad we made the effort. The access road was closed in the day but it's easy to park near the entrance and walk in. I recommend taking water and snacks with you as it's a mile or so walk. If you are unsure of where to head there may be some border protection staff around that can direct you. We found the staff we came across to be friendly and informative. For someone visiting from Australia this was a bizarre but absolutely fascinating place to visit and I highly recommend making the effort to get there and...
