Went over this weekend to do some yard work in our home in Mexico (in construction). It was spontaneous and literally just decided to go on a fly. 2am I was looking for good prices, good rating and of course great service. (Used Expedia through google) the location was great right in the center of the beach where they have shows going on. Stores nearby to walk to and lots of places to eat drink and dine. When I payed for my room called right after. They were very excited to speak to me, he confirmed my reservation and asked if anything I needed call ahead and they will do so accordingly. Upon arriving in Tijuana, it was a straight shot from my land after checking on construction we went to check in. Found the location with ease located next to the coliseum. The parking lot is rather small you have an option to leave the car and gets parked, or you park it yourself. So when you do need to leave call ahead and they will have your car ready when you get down there. The location lobby was neat, clean, and very comfortable. Checked in within 5 minutes, 2 rooms 100$ deposit 2 Air conditioner remotes. The room was great not as big as I thought two queen beds nightstand in between. Not to much room on the opposite ends of the nightstand probably 6 inches away from the wall. Room came with a Tall dresser and 3 compartment drawer. They had Netflix set up was great to hang out. They had room service ordered a burger 8/10 no issues just the burger was rather small for the price. The shower had a rainfall head, that was great. At night when we went out they had churros stands, taco stand, hot dog stand, lots of others the list goes on. Sleeping wise the beds were soft, lots of pillows only thing the water pipes were loud from my family next door couldn’t hear them just the pipes. Couldn’t hear the ruckus from outside or upstairs for that fact. The hotel has a restaurant on the Top floor (5th).Payed for breakfast for 7 upon checkin although you still going to pay the difference since it only covers 100pesos you can order anything on the menu if you don’t want breakfast. The room holds around 15-20 persons so be aware. Couple people didn’t even step off the elevator seeing there wasn’t room to eat. The breakfast was great family all loved it fresh...
Read moreThis appears to be an office building that was converted into a hotel and opened for business in December, 2018. So, the lobbies on each floor were highly polished marble, the beds were new and very comfortable. But, an oddity due to the conversion, is that there are many interior rooms with no windows, a holdover from when they were offices, I believe. Fortunately, I asked for an ocean view.||||I cannot praise the staff enough. Yuri was my main desk man and was terrific. But absolutely everyone that I saw was warm, friendly, courteous and went out of their way to make my stay perfect.||||At my bargain rate, I was still very pleased to have a 2nd floor room with ocean view. My first night, the heat went out. They offered to move me, but I'd already settled in, so I stayed under 3 blankets. The next day . still no heat, so the moved me to the top floor and had even cleaned the salt spray from the windows that I'd mentioned below.||||I arrived at the end of winter season. The beach looked a bit ragged. But, it was still full of families, young and old lovers, groups of joyful youth . . It was a truly Mexican (no tourists), blue collar, wonderful beach community. During the week, there was a transformation with cleaning, painting and excitement. To mix with fellow Americans, either go to Rosarito or stay in San Diego. But that;s not why I travel. There was not one beggar the entire week, just vendors carrying skewers of grilled shrimp, or pushing a helado wagon, or . . . So much great food. And, all along the avenue were dozens of wonderful seafood cafes with decks overhanging the boarwalk. I didn't know that I could gain 6 pounds on seafood. ||||This is 8 miles from Tijuana and I love it for the location, the service, the value, the wonderful sense of being accepted and belonging, even while in another country.||||I'd initially given this 4 stars, due to it not being "upscale" enough. But, it...
Read moreMy recent stay at Hotel Jatay left me with mixed feelings. While the staff was friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome, unfortunately, the hotel itself left much to be desired. Starting with the rooms, there was an unpleasant smell that lingered throughout our stay, making it difficult to feel comfortable. Additionally, the rooms were quite small, which made it challenging to move around freely, especially with luggage. One of the most inconvenient aspects was the lack of basic amenities. There was no fridge or microwave in the room, which are usually standard in most hotels. This made it difficult to store or heat up any food, leading to added expenses for dining out. The towels provided were extremely old and didn't look white at all. They appeared grayish and worn out, which was quite off-putting. Similarly, the sheets and blankets were of very low quality. They felt rough and uncomfortable, which affected the overall sleep experience. Adding to the negative experience, before check-out, the hotel sent someone to inspect the room to ensure that nothing was stolen or damaged. This practice was quite intrusive and left us feeling uncomfortable. They seemed to always look for an excuse to overcharge for small stains on towels, pillows, or sheets. This overall gave the impression of a low-budget hotel that prioritizes penny-pinching over guest comfort. Despite these issues, I must commend the staff, they were helpful, and responsive to our needs. It's clear that they are doing their best with the resources available to them. In summary, while the staff at Hotel Jatay was ok, the condition of the rooms and the lack of amenities significantly detracted from our stay. Improvements in these areas are necessary before I could consider staying here again or recommending...
