This place makes healthy eating 100% affordable. Not only that, but we have approximately halved our grocery bill since starting to come here once a week before going to the grocery store (and we live in Aransas Pass--even that far away, it's worth the drive.)
I don't know how they can sell their produce so cheaply, but it is good stuff. The mangos are some of the best I've ever tasted. The berries are the same quality as HEB's. Their papayas are riper and tastier. They also have stuff like green tunas that I can't even find at HEB. This isn't second class produce by any means. It's just way, way cheaper than anywhere else.
Sometimes it seems like they're just giving stuff away--I've bought a box of 18 bunches of overripe bananas for $1 and made delicious banana chips with it. 3 boxes of 9 large mangos for $5. A box of 12 containers of blackberries for $5. With a dehydrator and a little elbow grease, you can eat healthy on any budget by shopping here.
The staff is always friendly and extremely helpful. Even the other customers in the store are always super nice. I asked a guy checking out how he eats the green tunas, and he peeled one and gave it to me. I've been buying them ever since. They taste so good.
This place is a gem. I think we're really lucky to have them here in Corpus Christi, and I plan on continuing to give them as much business as I can. You're missing out if you...
Read moreOkay. Here you can buy FRESH produce. My experience has been mostly positive. Only drawback is that the produce has to be consumed within a couple days. I've noticed it doesn't have a long life such as produce from HEB,WALMART,or SPROUT'S. So buyer be aware. Don't be disappointed if produce doesn't "look" pretty. If you want pretty and longer life in your fridge then you'll just pay more at those places I mentioned before. It's cheap..cheap..cheap. So you can buy more of what you like. Freeze the rest. All my smoothies are pretty cheap to make because I freeze alot of my fruits. Example: 30 mango's for 5$ you can freeze that for later use. Use your...
Read moreA small family operated store stocked with fruit and vegetables with low prices awaits the hungry shopper. I have shopped this location for nearly 30 yrs. A typical day shopping here I may spend $15. If I compare the prices I paid to a chain grocery store prices I saved $20. You definitely get more for your dollar. If your a "picky shopper", everything you eat has to be perfect without blemish then this is not your place to shop. Organic produce when available at very...
