It was interesting to see the animals that end up here. I wouldn't come here if you are interested in a zoological experience. It's a facility that rescues and treats injured and sick animals and they just kind of have some for you to look at since they can't go anywhere. I hadn't realized that the entire facility was outdoors and the tour was also, obviously outdoors and I also did not realize the temperature crept up to 104 degrees. Everyone else seemed fine? I was the only one pouring sweat and dying, so I guess you can go whenever. Interesting facts to be learned about the wildlife, mostly that although well intentioned, untrained caretakers of exotic animals can affect them for the rest of their lives. My son was happy to see the turtles. I would not advise the tour for any child under the age of 7. Most of the tanks were hard to see in because water levels and color. The tanks inside were pretty scratched up so it was difficult for a 3 year old to see. I have a tall 3 year old. The animals are fine, just not designed for display per say. This is a great spot for anyone interested in marine biology. Also, be advised that half the tour involves walking on sand, so either wear closed shoes or...if you don't care about sand then don't worry about it. I don't personally care, but I often hear people do. Oh, there is a large porcupine that refused to come out but it stuck its head out. I didn't get it on film because apparently my phone got too hot...
Read moreDo not recommend very small/young child. Went to check out this place as our boys love animals. They charge $9 per person for 3yo and up, for a guided 30min tour.
Our smallest is 19mo old, very mobile age. Throughout the 30min tour, my husband and I took turn holding the baby and walk him around so he stays distracted. We never allowed him to touch anything unless it was said to be ok, he was never running wild. But he did cry at times so my husband would take him a few steps away, so his cry doesn’t distract the group as tour talked. But every time we stepped away with the baby, the guide would raise her voice and told us we were doing something wrong - even though we NEVER ONCE touched anything we weren’t supposed to including a tree brand, and we were never disruptive. After being called out for like 5 times, we left before the tour finished as the staffs clearly have no patience or understanding for very young child. The older two boys did just fine.
Cool sea turtles and animals to see and it’s a good place to teach children about animal...
Read moreAs a sustaining member of the Texas State Aquarium, I had high expectations-and the Texas Sea Life Center exceeded every one of them. This was my first visit, and I was truly impressed by the passion, care, and dedication the team pours into marine rescue and rehabilitation.
It's a more intimate, hands-on experience than a large-scale aquarium, which made it even more special. We got to see rescued sea turtles up close and learn about their recovery stories-each one a powerful reminder of the center's mission. The staff and volunteers were knowledgeable, kind, and eager to share their work with us.
You can tell this place runs on love and hard work, and supporting it feels like making a direct impact on local marine life. It's educational, inspiring, and deeply rewarding.
If you care about ocean conservation and want to see real work being done to protect our coastline's creatures, the Texas Sea Life Center is a must-visit. Proud to support them-and already...
