Totally underestimated this spot when coming through town. It’s in an old sonic off the main drag but aside from the trademark drive up bays and the bathroom, nothing is the same. It’s also an easy walk for anyone staying on the bay side or coming on/off the island.
First off the vibe is cool, and has some cool to it in a way that sets it apart from a lot of the touristy beach spots in town. Cool art, a full redesigned bar, and lots of comfortable open seating outside. With a sun shade. They also have a stage for live music and they bring acts in from all around. We caught an act, Michael O’Connor, on 4th of July and he was outstanding. Great sound quality too.
The tequila and wines are top shelf at reasonable prices, and they had a full cocktail bar service. Beer selection was good, but no draft from what I could see. The bar service, provided by Stassni, was super friendly and attentive. She made sure we were fed and hydrated.
And the food - wow! It was fantastic for such a small unassuming spot. I had the coconut butterfly shrimp with fries and my husband had the smash burger. Both were excellent. My shrimp were fresh butterflied gulf shrimp and hand breaded. So good.
This is the sister restaurant to Calypso in Half Price books. Great little spot on the island that’s worth a visit if you want a break from the bustling...
Read moreThere are no hosts or servers. You have to let yourself in and fight for attention at the bar to order anything. In the 45 mins we were there all they managed to serve were drinks. We could not get an order for food into the kitchen or get basic questions about the food ordered. This was before they were busy or the live music had started. I can’t imagine what this place is like when it’s full. This was not an environment for families, either, with cigar smoking and full ash trays everywhere. Our bad — we had just looked up good reviews online and saw the photos of the food and saw it had live music which we thought would be cool. But unfortunately we left after 45 mins with nothing but a headache from trying to shout at each other over the band plugging in and warming up mixed with the sound system playing...
Read moreVery friendly service. Small menu. Good bar selections - including a couple of frozen drinks. Indoor seating is very limited and at the bar. Lots of outdoor seating. There are wooden fences along the side which ends up with a nice breeze through the seating area. They have live music. I ordered the poblano burger, and it comes with fries. My hisband ordered the shrimp and chorizo quesadilla. We split out meals with each other. The burger was very good, and the fries were done perfectly. The quesadilla was delicious with a nice spice level....
