Moon Bay 月亮湾 — Attraction in Costa Mesa

I can't believe that this restaurant is even in business. I hate to write such a bad review, but the food was simply horrible.

We ordered three plates. Green beans. Kung pao chicken. Shrimp chow mein stir fry.

The green beans were so salty that we did not even eat it. It also had a strong vinegar flavor which I didn't care for. In other experiences with ordering green beans it's reasonable to expect the green beans to be fresh and have a nice "crunch" when you bite into it. These green beans were limpy and seemed like old produce.

We originally ordered beef stir fry chow mein, but the server said we ordered the shrimp stir fry. This also had a string vinegar flavor. Because the vinegar was so strong there wasn't much flavor to the whole dish. Sadly we didn't even eat this dish either because it was so terrible.

The kung pao chicken, which had a fish flavor to it was so hard and overcooked that it was barely edible. The chicken couldn't have been any dryer. Not a single ounce of moistness.

Sadly the only good thing was the rice.

The worst tasting food ever! Flooded their dishes with too much salt, too much vinegar and Moon Bay doesn't use fresh ingredients. Ordered the stir Fried Noodles with Beef and got it with shrimp. It was more like stir Fried bean sprouts and veggies and noodles. Waiter didn't offer to correct their mistake. Ordered the green beans and it came out limp, wrinkly and way too salty! Final dish was the Kung Pao Fried Diced Chicken. Chicken was dry, had the texture of leather, and Moon Bay must have spilled the vinegar bottle in the dish. In short, a very very bad...

I want to love this place but I can’t. The food is great and the service is close to none. First of all, you have to scan the QR code to place the order on the phone. No paper menu at all. No interaction between you and the only waiter in the restaurant. What if there’s a non-smartphone savvy customer? He/she has to leave. Then, when you done, you can’t get attention from the only waiter because he’s so busy and he purposely ignores you. I waited so long to get the bill and...
