Beautiful park in the middle of Old Town Cottonwood. I was expecting it to be ho-hum but it felt like I was walking in a forest in a fairy-tale as the tree leaves felt as the wind blew. The area was lush and filled with green trees and grass, and if you follow the signs that say Jail Tree- you will eventually reach the river, and you will see it flow- the water was a bit muddy but peaceful to hear it babble by.

Along the way, there are interpretive signs scattered throughout. It took about an hour or less than that to walk to that riverbank and then double back. I felt pretty safe walking through the paths. In front, there's a medium sized parking lot with accessible parking- and nearby plenty of cafes and shops to continue your fun when done with...

Great twisty winding trail! My daughter loved all the different options! Great choice for a leisurely stroll with the family. Parking was hard to come by, but we didn't have to walk too far from where we found a spot. Good shopping close by, so we were able to do some window shopping after our daughter got worn out on the trail. We didn't bring our dogs, but we crossed paths with quite a few on our way. Everyone seemed to enjoying the trail and nice cool weather. We plan on coming back in the warmer theme of the year when things should be a bit more green and pretty, but even now it was a very...

I like that the trail is easily accessible and has ample parking. The interpretive boards make for an informing walk along the Verde River. The cottonwood trees are HUGE! I only saw two other people on the trails and aside from some traffic noise from town it was a peaceful 30 minutes. There seems to be an abundance of criss-crossing social trails and it made the route slightly confusing but not problematic. I saw a number of herons roosting in a tree and two ducks in the river. If you're looking for something easy, short, scenic, and convenient - this is a...

Nice little nature walk close to everything. Some sense of isolation but you could hear cars and other things the whole time so not scary in terms of “getting lost”. Some of the trail was overgrown IMO, but the path was still fairly easy to follow. Saw plenty of other people and pets, all friendly. Most people had their dogs off leash, which was posted as against the rules - so be aware that this isn’t a good trail for reactive animals or if you need to keep any distance between your pets and others - not much space to step out of the way when passing.

It appears that there was a fire that tore through this area at one point. So that with it also being winter, the area was kind of desolate looking. With that said, it is a peaceful area with little to no foot traffic while I was there. The trail does run down to the creek. It's an easy area to walk or jog through; the entrance is easily accessible but can be somewhat overlooked in the parking lot area it's adjacent to.
