We love Cottonwood. And there is no better place in Cottonwood to start your morning of shopping, touring, gazing, relaxing and soaking in this beautiful Arizona Town than a hearty, tasty and mouthwatering breakfast at the Red Rooster Café! Whether munching inside or outside, this is the place to get your morning victuals! We started at the bar while waiting briefly for a table by ordering there really, really good Cappuccinos – yeah, really good! Within a few minutes we were seated in the outside patio area nicely shaded with a view of the inside, the patio, and passersby on the street. I must say, although they don’t have what I call an extensive menu, the goods are good. Not really, they’re great. This being our second visit here, we’ve found their dishes fab. My wife began with one of her faves, Biscuits and Gravy with an incredible sausage gravy and tasty (fresh) bacon bits – with a side of scrambled eggs. I had something I’d never seen before, yet it’s a combination of two of my fave eats, the Breakfast Reuben! This incredible concoction is terrific, especially when you’re a lover of both the traditional Reuben Sandwich and the classic Eggs Benedict! Their use of Corned Beef over Eggs on toasted rye, interspersed with great sauerkraut, oozing Swiss cheese and a well-prepared hollandaise sauce (served with home fries), made this delicacy a reason to keep coming back. Memorable and delish. Savannah, you’re an outstanding server, and thank you – you made our meal the more enjoyable. As for Red Rooster, keep it up, continue doing what your doing, and we’ll be...
Read moreHostess was quick and engaging. Said she'd bring us water, but she forgot :(. Waitress came over and offered to get our water and she remembered:). Waitress took our order and the food came after a 15 min wait. By the way this was a slow Sunday at 11:00. Back room had 4 or 5 couples, maybe 8 or 9 people on the patio, and only 2 tables in the front besides ours. So one of us asks for a side of cheesy potatoes, $4.00 I believe. Don't order this, it's a 4 oz bowl with a blob of heated, previously frozen shredded potatoes with some type of cheese cooked with it. No taste! But to add insult they throw some grated cheese on top, which is cold and the potatoes are not even warm enough to melt them. But let's get to the real gripe - we walk in at 11:05 and we do not walk out until 12:51! A party of 2, seated immediately, the bulk of that time was us trying to get someone to bring us the dam bill! After waiting forever and no eye contact on her part, I flag down a waiter and ask for him to get our waitress to bring it to us. He brought it back and took the card right away. Then drops it on the table with no pen. So of course my sister takes the bill to the bar and is handed a pen that doesn't work and no apology. So if you can't figure out why the tip was low, well there you have it! One hostess, one bartender and 3 wait staff on a slow Sunday morning and can't even get my bill! One hour and 46 minutes and you wasted at least 30 minutes of our time! read the reviews not the first time someone has complained about...
Read moreI moved to Cottonwood in 1973 and lived there for until 1984. I have been back to visit over the decades but I have never stopped to dine in any of the newly-created resturants that have popped up in Old Town since the Old Days. A friend invited me to brunch at the Red Rooster and I was so happy that I showed up hungry.
Sienna, our assigned waitress, was so professional, thoughtful, and always on time that I would have hired her in a minute had I been a talent scout working for Enchantment Resort, L'Auberge, or Sedona Rouge. Having been a waiter myself at Enchantment in Sedona back in the early 90's, I know what counts.
Then there was the gnetle man who seated us, a focused, thin fellow with tattoos on his legs, who was swift and accurate, too. And of course there was also the roaming ninja waitress who seemed to always be right next to me when I needed to ask for more of anything be it knapkins, lemon slices, or coffee and brought it quickly. How did the restaurant find such a crew? Hats off to whoever hired them......for sure.
The food was excellent, the offerings varied and delicious, and the atmosphere in the courtyard was perfect. The wind was shielded but we still had a tight view of the action on the street, nice if you're a people-watcher like I am. I can definitely understand why my friend, who has spent decades in Cottonwood, choose the Red Rooster as her first choice for me to enjoy. This restaurant will be around for decades as long as they continue this encore service tradition and serve such tasty and...
