City Pond Park — Attraction in Covington

City Pond Park is located in Covington Georgia. This park sponsors Miracle League Baseball games as well as regular able bodied kids games which are all handled by the recreation department/park district of Newton County. If your kids are special needs, there is an area disigned so they the can enjoy themselves also. The City of Covington and the Covington Police Dept.also raised a significant amount of money the build this area... Compliments also to Officer Morgan Steward. You can enjoy fishing also when the park is open. Just check with the Recreations Dept. before you cast out into the deep. This place has a very nice covered Pavilion which may be available for use, as well as accessible restrooms. If you have any questions, please ask. I'm always willing to help. From the many many other reviews I can see that I am not the only one who has experienced a problem. Is the city pond accessible playground not open on the weekends? This is the third weekend that all gates close to the park are closed and locked. The only access is to walk from the complete other side which defeats the purpose of an accessible playground. Also all bathroom are closed and locked? This is highly concerning and if it is not open on the weekend then there needs to signage...

This park is simple, and so close to perfect. But the county decided adding a firing range next to it would be a great idea. I'm sure the people that made that decision have kids. But they think it's appropriate for little kids playing baseball should be hearing gun shots during their games. You can literally see the shooting range from the playground. Super wholesome. I'm sure there was absolutely no where else on the WHOLE county they could have put this. Do better....
