I had a disappointing stay at Residence Inn Covington. First the good... this is a great location. It is convenient to a Publix (right across the street) and convenient to Covington Square (very nice area with great restaurants and boutique shopping). The building is new and that is a bonus. Many of the staff people I spoke to were pleasant.||Despite the newness of the facility, the room had some cleanliness issues. Given the issues I encountered, as I left my first morning there, I asked that my room be serviced. I explained that there was a lot of hair on the floor of my room (carpet and bathroom floors). When I came back at the end of the day, my room had been serviced, but there was still hair in some places and I had also noticed "foot" prints on the bathroom floor. I could clearly see the outline of toes and feet marks on the floor. I had assumed that would have been taken care of since I had asked that my room be cleaned. It wasn't. And there were still random hairs all over that were not mine.||So the next morning, I asked the person at the front desk that my room be cleaned again. I was assured it would be cleaned. But when I came back at the end of that day, the room had not been touched. Also, there was trash and dirty towels sitting outside my door that belonged to the room next door. It was very unsightly. ||So I went downstairs and asked why my room had not been cleaned. I was informed that my room had not been cleaned because I had my privacy sign on my door. But this was absolutely not true. I had taken my privacy sign off the door when I left. What was interesting was that they indicated since my privacy sign had been on the door (according to them - again, my privacy sign had not been on the door), I could not have my room serviced as there was no one to do it at that point. After I insisted that my privacy sign had not been on the door, I was told that the Housekeeping Manager was still there and that person would clean my room.||So they decided that someone was actually available since I explained that the privacy sign was not on my door. I didn't appreciate that I was told no one could clean my room because everyone was gone. But then all of sudden someone was available. ||As I finished my discussion with the front desk I turned to run back to my room to gather a few items before leaving again. As I walked toward the elevator, I heard some hallway conversation that sounded like it was hotel staff venting. I heard something along the lines of "guests need to be accountable." So I heard staff venting about guests. That was very unprofessional.||Overall, the facility is nice, and I'd like to be able to stay again - but not until these issues...
Read moreMy first stay was good except someone had used all the coffee packets in the room and left the empty wrappers. When I called housekeeping there was no answer so I called the front desk and was told housekeeping doesn’t come in but three days a week. Luckily the other worker, Elaine, got on it and brought me an arm full of packets so I could enjoy a nice warm cup of decaf and a cookie. The second stay was not as good. I secured a King Studio online for $369.95 with my credit card and received a Double bed Studio which they ran my card for $470! While Elaine tried her best to fix it I ended up having to contact the General Manager to get my card credited back the difference. He credited my card but I received no response from him like “hey I’m sorry this happened to you” or “I’ve credited your card for xxx amount of dollars. Thank you for bringing this to our attention” nope just an email showing the credit no message with it. I know this hotel is new but I’m sure the management has been around and is experienced. He should have emailed a personal response in reply to my personal email to him. That’s good business sense. On a side note, even though my card has been charged and they have been paid I still have a pending charge on my credit card for $420 five days later! Outside of the money issues the rooms are nice and the first time I stayed my king size room was amazing and the shower was awesome. The price is steep but when the tornado hit it was the only place left to stay. Two employees stand out and they are Elaine (evening shift) and Lisa...
Read moreThe hotel is newer and looks great. The rooms have everything you need. The breakfast is good, but it needs variety for people that stay for extended periods of time. The good selection can be altered a bit more. The housekeeping could be a little more thorough and clean stuff that gets dirty normally instead of asking for stuff to get cleaned and refilled multiple times automatically. There is a small putting green there that is great, but they only have 1 putter with multiple balls. There is a table with a fireplace on it in the courtyard by the pool, I always wanted to sit by it, but I never saw it on. We stayed 20 days. The girls at the front desk were super nice as well as the night manager. We used the outside gas grill once also. Dog friendly hotel with lots of nice guest. Side note: There was an incident where an unknown black male was on the premises looking around and entered the hotel and approached staff in the lobby, and on the floor inappropriately and the police were called in him. The hotel guest weren't informed, ifeel everyone should've been warned. Every now and then when I sat outside I saw a stragglers approach the facility, and one day a homeless guy sat at the curb with his belongings by my 2 cars for a few hours. The police do patrol and drive through the hotel which is positive, but hotel guest should be aware of incidents for...
