Thanks to all of you who checked out my original review! Since then, I wanted to share an update about my first hair coloring experience here in Washington.
A Big Change & Finding the Perfect Stylist
For some context, I hadn't colored my hair since 2016, so it was completely virgin hair! Knowing I wanted a stylist I could trust, I go to Felicia Matthews exclusively. She's amazing â I can be totally honest with her about what I want, and she listens! The only time she disagreed with me was this winter when I wanted a lob. She convinced me to wait until my next appointment, saying she'd be happy to do it then if I still felt strongly about it. Well, next appointment came, and I'm so glad she made me wait! Loving how long my hair is now!
Natural Highlights & Avoiding the Brass
Finally feeling secure in my new job, I decided to treat myself to highlights before my Hawaii vacation. I showed Felicia pictures of what I wanted â super natural highlights, almost undetectable, with no "money pieces." She listened carefully and explained that some of the pictures were quite bright, not what I was going for.
We settled on a plan for baby baby balayage highlights that wouldn't touch my roots. Originally, I just wanted foils in the front, but Felicia suggested highlights throughout my hair for a more natural look. She took her time, making sure each section was super thin â no chunky highlights here! She even toned it down a bit for an extra natural look.
Sunshine Magic!
When it was finished, I was surprised! It looked great even wet, but the real magic happened outside in the sunshine. The highlights were stunning, exactly what I wanted! No harsh lines, no brassiness, just beautiful, natural-looking hair. For the first time ever, I wasn't hiding my hair â Felicia truly listened to what I wanted!
Bonus: Helpful & Not Pushy
As a bonus, when I mentioned needing new shampoo and conditioner, Felicia found me a great deal without any pressure to buy. In fact, she even complimented the products I was already using!
Overall, I can't recommend Felicia enough!
As a note to my fellow reviewers, I want to clarify that I exclusively go with Felicia for my hair needs. Every stylist has their own approach and experience, so if you're looking for a specific technique, be sure to ask when booking your appointment. I really love coming here!
Ulta Salon:
I went to Ulta Salon for years when I worked up north. When I moved down south, my Salon in the city became to far! Thought Iâd give them a try!
I went to Felicia and I love her so much! She treated me with such respect and made my time feel luxurious!! I have enjoyed my bangs so much! Today (after 9 weeks) I went in and even though my appointment time was messed up she was able to do a treatment and trim my bangs!
I canât thank them enough for giving me back just a little bit of me time!!!
Additionally I picked up the new TULA tint skincare and was matched by Richie! He was a doll! I loved how he knew exactly what I meant went I said I didnât want a âshimmeryâ sunscreen serum. He was able to help me find an amazing match and recommend a few other recommendations.
I have also been helped by Giovanni (sp) he was so kind! He helped me find so many perfect MAC lippies
I know some have not had good experiences, but I do think they try to make sure you donât need anything. Everytime itâs always because someone is trying to make sure I donât need help

I never leave reviews, especially negative because I work retail and I know how difficult it can be to make everyone happy, HOWEVER I just had such a bad experience getting my eyebrows waxed and tinted. I was in a bit of a shock at first that it had all actually happened. I've been going to the Factoria one lately because the benefit brow person there is awesome, and the Covington person is always really upset. I'm pretty chill so I don't normally care, except I usually leave there feeling just as grumpy. Today there was no one for the brow bar so I saw the person from the salon that does the facials as well. I don't remember her name, but I think she's the only one in the station. She wasn't very kind. Told me to lay down as soon as I walked in without saying andthing else. She said it in such an annoyed tone. She told me I needed my lip waxed, even though I was just there for the eyebrow wax and tint. She qasnt very kind about that either and when i said i just wanted my eyebrows she said, no and lip. When she went to do my eyebrows I tried to tell her about the tint color they used last time because last time they told me to let the person know what tint they used brecause my eyebrow hair is finicky. When she finished the tint it was pretty orange colored so I told her so. She then used a different tint and it came out better. She told me "Next time, don't give me your opinion" in a pretty rude tone as well. Im sorry, but they're eyebrows on my face and I wanted them the same way as they always get done so I don't ont look odd.. She just felt super rude and after a long day at work with customers being kind of awful to me, I wanted to do something nice for myself. Instead I felt worse. So that's cool.    Read moreHorrible Customer Service. Couldn't help but feel I wasn't properly helped because staff assumed I was a thief. I recently bought a Tarte foundation I did get a couple shades warmer then my usual color (planning to tan for a event, plans fell thru) I brought in the foundation still in original box never opened. I wanted to switch to my original color I did misplace my receipt but never thought it was a big deal seeing I didn't want a refund but just get my correct color. I was helped by a cashier and everything was fine until the manager came to approve the transaction. She completely refused to help me. She said all she could do was issue me a refund for $0.01!!! A penny I thought she was joking it was so ridiculous. I explained that I wasn't interested in a refund i just want to get my correct shade & she repeated that "again without a receipt that is all I can do for you". I asked couldn't she look up my purchases with my phone number seeing as I am rewards member she refused and said she can't without the original receipt. I've always heard good things about Ultas return policy and expected so much more. I've spent a quarter of what I spent in Ulta in a Walgreen's and ive been able to exchange a Mascara that I did open and did try without a problem. I have called federal way ulta and asked if I can exchange with no receipt and they said with my phone number or Email I can. 1 of 2 things happened here she wasn't interested in helping me because of who I am or she assumed I was a thief and I wanted to try and pull one over on her.
