I had my bike since 2015 and bought it used cause I really needed to get stronger from my strokes. As goofy as this will read, I love this bike. Yea, I could have taken it to the Trek shop, but I didn't want to pay an arm & legg especially after reading the good reviews of this shop. I felt more then comfortable especially when the owner took the bike and looked at it like a skilled doctor checking out a new patient for the first time. The estimate for the needed work didn't shock or scare me and when it was completed the total cost even lower than the estimated cost. A beautiful shop with a great vibe, even for this green guy. Thanks, bike guy.

I love biking and everything associated with it. I've written for my college classes papers about the history, uses and how we could decrease our environmental impact if we just biked most places. every chance I get I hop on mine and take joy from the feel of gliding. Which is why when I see a place that has literal museum of them I'm in heaven. From the very first ones to the ones with the coolest chrome designs from the 1950s they have it. They also fix and sell modern bicycles. But for me the real fun is seeing something I love and it's evolution. How can u appreciate the present if u never see it's past.

Outstanding! I only regret not finding these guys sooner. Steve took an ample amount of time to run through some new gear I am shopping for thoroughly and meticulously. I was there to get my son's Trek repaired which was completed within the hour. And there was plenty of customers in the shop...always a good sign. I will now be a patron of South Shore Cyclery from now on. Bonus FYI- they have an in house museum as many shops will try to do however they had bikes from the 1800's, a 1930 track bike, and an old Murray decked with Campy components..Thanks guys!!

I had a great experience with South Shore. I recently purchased a used endurance bike from Facebook Marketplace, and while I had some concerns that I may have gotten myself in over my head, I figured that I had gotten a pretty good deal, as I had done quite a bit of research on modern bikes, and this particular model and style beforehand. It was clear to me from a test ride, that this bike was at the least in need of a tune up, I personally hated the saddle, and I wanted some optional accessories like a lock, air pump, etc. When I visited South Shore, I spoke with their mechanic, Terry. Terry listened to my story, gave the bike a quick examination, and recommended the basic tune up service. He did not try to oversell me on parts and services I didn't need, and I think he felt the bike was in better shape than I thought. When it came to the changes I wanted to make, he discussed my options, gave his insight, and never tried to rush me. He was knowledgeable about the products, gave his opinion, and respected mine. I had requested the return of my old parts when my bike was ready, they understood, and had everything prepared for me. Lastly, when I did go to pick up my bike, Steve spent time answering my questions about presta valves, tire pressure, and helping me to find the correct fit with the installation of my new seat and pedals. Sometimes being a repeat customer says it all. I'll be bringing my old bike here to replace the drive train. I felt this crew really cared about putting me on a bike I was happy with, not just selling me a different bike. Whether you want to buy a new bike, service your old bike, or pick up a quality used bike, give South...

I reached out to South Shore Cyclery for a bike fitting, after years of struggling with knee and back pain while riding. It was easy to scheduled the appointment, I left my name and number and waited for a call from their fitter, Emily. The day of the fit, I came with my bike and all my gear. Emily was friendly with a warm and caring personality. We began with an interview talking through how I prefer to ride, what my goals were with my bike and talked about what injuries I have had in the past. She then took some measurements and preformed a few simple strength and flexibility tests on me. then it was time to go on the bike and ride on the trainer. There was no pressure to do so, but I opted to buy new shows and clips, that they were able to install on the bike right away. I also opted to update by seat stem and get my handlebars upgraded to fit my shoulder width. The sitting took a few hours but they were able to take my 1990's Cannondale and make it comfortable for me again. I have been riding for a few weeks now on it and my knee and back pain has disappeared. I have also taken Emily's advice and continued to work on strengthening my core which has been very helpful on longer rides.

I would recommend South Shore Cyclery to anyone, their knowledgeable and friendly staff is ready to take on any challenge to help you get out on the road or trail again. Thank you South Shore Cyclery for...

After having a cycling accident on my nimble road bike in '22 that left me with a fractured jaw and two broken teeth, I was pretty hesitant to get back in the saddle. I knew it was time to upgrade to something more rugged that I could take on trails and haul items with, while still being able to jaunt around the city. Steve at South Shore Cyclery ran me through the gamut of options and patiently answered all of my questions. At no point did I feel pressured to make a purchase and I returned shortly after to test out one of the options he had shown me prior. It was love at first ride!

I ended up purchasing a hybrid bike and upgrading it with thicker, kevlar-lined tires that could take a beating and make me feel more secure on my new steed. Steve also assisted me with selecting a rear rack, as well as pimping out my bike with some vibrant new pedals - all of which he installed before I took my new bike home. Thanks so much, Steve & everyone at SSC for taking the time to assess my needs in a totally pressure-free environment and helping me make the transition back to biking with a positive, professional and polite attitude! Will definitely be back for a tune-up...
