I have been buying many plants here for a long time, for gifts, for my home and business. 16 days ago I bought several plants to give to my daughter for her birthday, she is a huge plant lover. I normally don't comment on any businesses as I understand that some people have negative comments that are for something very unreasonable or even when they were the issue or problem. However I feel compelled to take this opportunity to comment that the girl who assisted me for the initial sale 16 days ago was very nice, she helped me to wrap some of the plants for gifts. I returned today to return 2 of 15 plants that I purchased that my daughter did not want and would like to have a different varietal. I was attended by the manager (can't recall his name) when I returned with 2 plants out of 15 total that i purchased. These two plants cost of $14 usd and $10 usd . One of them was returned because it was not very healthy, and the other was indoor and my daughter wanted an outdoor plant. The Manger who commented that after 14 days no changes are made, in my case, exceeded 2 days. It is understandable that they do not allow exceptions to the return policy, however, I would like to express the importance of making the customer feel that they take into consideration the frequency with which they buy in that establishment, and take a little more time, maybe offer a discount on the next purchase, something that would have made them feel that although we did not come in time to change the plants they care about the client. A business that looks at each customer as valuable would appreciate even the customer who just has one small purchase let alone many and we are not just another customer. I would have liked to be left with the impression that they care about you as a customer. It is a very nice place and so far the service has been very good, unfortunately the manager did not offer a...
Read moreI went here for the first time yesterday looking for several plants to add to my patio. I had a specific design in mind and was looking forward to having a healthy variety to select from. Unfortunately they were out of large rosemary and didn't carry any varieties of old garden roses...which I actually couldn't find anywhere near central LA.
As a first timer here, I was a bit confused as to how to go about selecting and purchasing. From the time I walked in and during the 20+ minutes I spent browsing the grounds I wasn't acknowledged by any staff. I saw several people who appeared to work there but they just quickly walked by me. I eventually went back up to the main level and waited in line to ask the cashier. I was told to reach out to one of the staff working the large grounds so that they could create a list for me to take to back to the cashier.
After doing that I was eventually approached by a guy in the succulent area who asked if I needed anything. He was pretty helpful and answered all my questions - seemed very knowledgeable, and helped me select some nice options.
Ultimately, I spent $200 on 5 medium sized (5 gal) plants, which I thought was a little pricey. I wanted to buy a few pots, but they were all very overpriced (large pots $300+). The other garden center I usually go to has nice, large clay & ceramic pots for $175 or less.
When I started potting the plants at home I noticed an alarming amount of ants, spiders, and other bugs. I know bugs are difficult to avoid, especially if inventory is kept outside; however, I didn't have that issue with the plants I purchased from the other garden center which has a dense selection, all kept outdoors. The critters were excessive to the point that I panicked and immediately sealed off my patio to finish potting and thoroughly clean.
I'm not sure if I'll be back, but it is a beautiful...
Read moreThis used to be our favorite place to shop for plants. We’ve made dozens of purchases here over the years and we always looked forward to coming to Rolling Greens. But that was all ruined today by one interaction with the assistant manager, Frank.
We came a few days ago hoping to find a flowering plant that would thrive in full sun. We liked some violets and an employee told us they should do well in full sun so we bought six. We took them home and put them outside close to where they would be planted. We watered them thoroughly but they quickly drooped. It was clear that this wasn’t a good spot for them so we decided to return them.
RG’s return policy says that plants need to be returned within 14 days in their original packaging so we didn’t expect to have issues with the return. But Frank, the assistant manager, immediately berated us. He told us that we didn’t water the plants (we did) and said it was obvious that they would die because they were still in the original packaging (which is required by the return policy). Frank was completely condescending and abrasive. Then he made a big show of throwing the plants in the garbage in a huff of anger. If we were unable to return the plants due to store policy, we could deal with that. But Frank treated us with so much disrespect and vitriol that all of our love for Rolling Greens was immediately eradicated. It’s a...
