Let me start by saying this review will comprise of pros and cons, as I feel it’s important to give a multi-angled point of view.
We arrived around 15 minutes prior to our check in time. However, the staff had the room ready anyway and we were quickly directed to our room (212). Upon entering our evening’s accommodations, it was quickly understood this was going to be the smallest place I’ve ever slumbered (Small will be a recurring theme here). Pro: my memory of being locked up in Harris County will forever feel a bit more spacious. But I digress. My partner soon realized she didn’t have any water handy, but did notice there were shelves behind the front desk full of clear gift bags with bottled water. So she made her way downstairs, and waited for quite a time before just helping herself to a bag. Pro: there might be free water, if it’s not free, just take it. After a long drive, not taking time to stop for a restroom break, I knew I was going to get to experience that long lost hotel number 2. As I entered the chamber, I noticed there was no fart fan. Now you might be saying “you aren’t comfortable enough around your spouse to hear them use the bathroom?”. The answer is no. But don’t you worry, we’re nice and close with each other now. Follow along for why. In the absence of the fan required to entertain my time, I opted to turn on the shower, which did the trick. Pro: Great shower pressure! Remember the theme of small, here goes. I proceeded to place my body firmly onto a throne that I can only imagine was perhaps 3 centimeters from the ground. I felt like I was using the bathroom from the room below me. What happened next, apparently becomes more common as you become 40-something. As I went about my business, what I can only describe as the underpinnings of the bowels of a dragon directly from Hell emerged from my body. Congratulations, my first one. Guess my deadlifting days are over. As the night continued, so did my ability to sit correctly. What could it be? What did I do to deserve this ? I simply was ready to enjoy a lovely Saturday night stay out of town with my bride. Pro: my wife and I have become very comfortable with one another since we’ve been home. Magically, I survived the night, showered again the next morning, and prepared myself for what was surely going to be the most uncomfortable 2 hour drive home.
So, “Tru by Hilton” on 290 in Cypress, Texas, you ask was my stay memorable? Oh my dear, I can honestly say I have thought about my stay at your hotel at very least once, sometimes...
Read moreTerrible service and experience. I stayed at the Tru by Hilton Cypress from Friday 3/21/25 to 3/23/25. I travel often with my family including my boy who is autistic. I really loved the option of choosing my own room in the app because I was able to pick one above the pool to prevent my son from disturbing anyone underneath. First of all, there was no microwave in the room and then the indoor pool was useless. It was freezing! I tried to move around in the water hoping to warm up but it didn't work. I'd rather take my chances of bad weather with an outdoor pool than this one. My disappointment in the pool is not the reason for this bad review. It was in the cleanliness of the bedding and the responses from both the Manager, MyCyne, and the general manager, Michelle Virata. Friday night I arrived at the hotel after a busy day around 12am tired and ready for sleep. I found a long, black hair in the sheets but brushed it off as falling from someone who maybe made the bed. Then as I pulled the sheets back for my son to lay down I noticed many small black hairs. They appeared like animal hairs. I plucked them off and noticed the sheets were wrinkled. I've stayed at plenty of hotels to know these sheets were not clean. Then I found a small ball of something sticky with hair attached to it clinging to the pillow. I took a pic and will attach it. I called the front desk and a young man brought me clean blankets and sheets. He didn't know what a fitted sheet was so when I called again and requested one he brought me more flat sheets. I used a comforter to sleep on. I spoke with Ms. MyCne, the manager, before I checked out and at first she didn't seem accommodating at all. She seemed irritated that I was complaining. She wrote down the information I gave her and said she couldn't refund me but could give me 2400 points. I then wrote an email to the general manager, Ms. Virata, who asked for several days to research and after a week I asked for an update. She responded with an apology and 15,000 point which she said would get me a free night for sure. I tried to book a night in the same area with those points and the cheapest I found was 23,000 points in a Spark. I emailed her back expressing my disappointment in the manager for giving me only 2400 points for a terrible night and that a GM wasn't aware of the amount of points required for a free night. She hasn't responded. Its been a week. I do not recommend staying at this Hilton in Cypress or in the area where the general management is...
Read moreWe had the WORST experience here. I usually try and stay at Tru when traveling because we have always had nothing but good experiences but this was not the case and this one stay has made me NEVER want to stay at any other TRU again. The front desk manager Arhmad was extremely rude and obviously has no experience in customer service. we arrived close to 2 and asked if we could check in. He advised us he does not allow early check in and we would have to wait until 3. I asked if he could make an exception as we had been traveling all day with a newborn who at this point was cranky and hungry and needed to be fed and put to rest. he stated no and we needed to come back. after leaving and coming back at 330 our rooms were still not ready for check in. There was no one to be found in hotel and a ton of angry guests at front who were angry and fed up. Apparently Arhmad had left and left the place in chaos. After over an hour another front desk person came and explained he was left no directions and was unable to check anyone in and he had tried looking for another employee to help him and couldnt find anyone. Everyone was arguing and upset with him and he was having an anxiety attack with all that was going on. I felt bad for him but he truly was trying to find someone to help people get in their rooms. Every time we left the room we were locked out and had to go to front desk to get our cards redone. We were not the only guest this was happening too. There were no towels and trying to get assistance for either getting card redone or getting a towel was like pulling teeth with Arhmad. Im not sure why he would be in a management position with this hotel when he clearly doesnt care about guests. Literally everytime i walked by the front desk there was an angry guest arguing with him either due to their keys, trying to get towels or trying to get checked in. I really advise upper management to check the cameras at this establishment to see how much chaos there was this weekend at this hotel and to back up all im saying. I am angry we payed so much to enjoy this long weekend there and had nothing but headaches and no relaxation due to the incompetencies here. even though the location is great and convenient especially for baseball tournaments as we were here for and tons of other guests too. i advise DO NOT STAY HERE. it will be worth a little more of a drive staying elsewhere. I for one will never be returning here or probably any other...
