Waffle House — Restaurant in Texas

We used to love going here after our weekly game night but in the last 3 months the service and treatment has become so god awful we almost stopped going. Now we will neber go back. This visit was 4th in a 2week period that we went all different times from day(12pm-4pm) shift to super late (11pm-3am) shifts. There were six employees in the building only 3 customers not including the 4 of us. We sat down waited 10mins for someone to come to our table (the only other clean one open), everyone one of them looked that us sitting there no menus nothing, when we finally got service the young man stood there waiting for us to order after we told him the drinks, we still didn't have menus two of my group had never been to a waffle house. I had to tell him to please give us menus and we will look them over while he got our drinks. He just stood there. We just went ahead and ordered 8 mins later he brought two of us coffee and never brought the others there drinks until after they got there food even though we asked twice. Two of us had All stars which comes with a waffle, we had finished all our food before he finally brought the waffles, after we asked several times for the waffles. He never came back to check on drinks or anything the entire time we were there we even ask two different ladies and the cook for refills and never got them. I watched him playing on his phone sitting at a table. Most ppl would have lost their temper but that just embarrass themselves and gets you know where. We gave up and I went to pay it was almost $60 and he had the audacity to ask me if I was going to tip him when he saw I didn't. Well I lost it then. I told him tips are earned not just expected and that he never earned a tip. I was loud enough that both the managers that were there heard and saw me but stayed in back watching like a bunch of chickens. He just stood there like he didn't understand what the problem was. Like in said this was the last time this has been how the last several times I went was like with different ppl too. I could understand if it was busy but each time thwre have only been like two other ppl. DO NOT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING MISS TREATED...

I love Waffle House, so I am extremely disappointed to write this review at a 1 star. Monday at 10:30 pm I walked in and was immediately greeted. I sat down at the bar because all the booths were dirty, the server did not even think about wiping down the bar where I was sitting. Unfortunately I had to do it myself. I ordered a patty melt with no bacon, hashbrowns and a waffle with blueberries and pecans. The cook accidentally added bacon and instead of making a whole new patty melt decided to just take off the bacon and still serve it to me. (I don't eat pork, so this is a huge contamination issue, luckily I am deciding not to blow it up). The patty melt was overcooked and the bread was almost burnt, the hashbrowns were average. The waffle to my surprise was actually disgusting I believe they used blueberry syrup instead of real blueberries and way to much waffle batter. All this would have been easier to fathom had I received respectable service and the restaurant was at a bare minimum clean. My server disappeared and I had to ask to check out and when I did was told that "I needed to wait for my server to create the check." I asked for a manager of course there wasn't one on staff at the time. Who makes a customer wait to pay that's just crazy I should have left, but I am a respectable human. I paid, left a tip and kindly gave the server my review once she returned 20 minutes later. I could start by complaining about the food quality and service but let's face it...its Waffle House and expectations are low to begin with. What needs to be addressed here is the unsafe food handling practices at this location. I was in this restaurant at approx 12:30, Today 8/7/16. After I finished my less than appealing and satisfying breakfast I went to the counter to pay. While waiting for the cashier to become available I observed a cook reaching into the upright cooler for strips of bacon with No gloves on and placing them onto the griddle. She then handled the bacon presses (with wood handles) with those same unwashed, un-gloved hands, and then immediately handling another utensils used to place egg rings on another griddle. She still had not washed her hands, still had not put on gloves and then Again...opened the cooler door to grab more bacon. At this point I pointed out to another worker that she was handling raw food and touching food surfaces without washing her hands or putting on gloves. She spoke to someone else and then I was handed a "Mini Employment Application" by my rude and disgruntled server named Danielle. She told me to call corporate and file a complaint there.
