Update: hadn’t been here in awhile after moving and was in town and revisited it yesterday and was super happy to see how much progress has been made with this trail!! You can now do the full 5.5+ loop around the lake (easy to turn into a 6-7 mile workout with additional loops around the mini pond loop and the sound). About 2.5 mi paved so far with plans to have another mile+ paved. They’ve really enhanced the place making with these cool stone monuments engraved with quotes all along the route including the unpaved parts. There have also been more benches added. My favorite is an adorable little toad-themed pedestrian bridge connecting two parts of the trail that is also next to a good sized parking lot if you want to start there instead of at the sound (good alternative if lack of parking or event at the sound). Wish I didn’t live so far away now or it would be my go to spot for weekly long runs!! Oh and I didn’t mention in my original post, there’s a public restroom at the sound too so it’s perfect for long workouts!! I like starting and ending at the sound so there are food options available. Was disappointed yesterday, though, to see that the coffee shop I loved is no longer there. Hope it gets replaced by another coffee shop!
Original post: Great urban trail area with 2.5 miles of paved trails and another mile so far of gravel trail. Currently there is a West route and an East route, both off-shooting from the bridge loop near parking area and restrooms. Eventually the completed trail will be a full loop going all around North Lake (guessing the full loop will be 6-8 miles long). The paved trails are stroller friendly and there are park benches every .2 miles or so. Great place for a short family stroll or a moderate-long run or walk. There are public restrooms and food places next to the central park/bridge loop area, perfect for eating or drinks before or after workout. The bridge loop itself is .20 miles and can be done on repeat for a decent workout. Love the unique trail markers and signage with funny sayings and trail puns. Only downside is there is almost no shade, so this is a very hot workout...

Read moreSo it’s supposedly a loop trail, but when I went the final stretch was blocked off with no way to get around. Nor could you leave that area as barbed wire surrounded that section, so I had to go all the way back around the ‘loop’ to get back to where I parked. Not safe if you aren’t expecting it and don’t have enough water. Trail is fine beyond that with a mix of paved and gravel. Just surprised there was no way to exit, I was so close to where I parked, but no way to...
