Read moreI've been to the Flying Saucer at Sundance Square (once recently) and thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the biergarten and enjoying what I recall being a very extensive beer menu and a reasonable food menu. Don't expect this to be the same experience! I thought the beer menu was a little limited. And I especially thought there should have been more local brews on draft. The food menu was also limited. I had the salmon appetizer which was very, very good (but a little salty). I should have stopped with that. (It was a generous appetizer.) I had a "bowl" for dinner. Frankly, it was a little dry and kind of boring. I expected it to be a more integrated dish. But it was a bowl of brown rice with some toppings thrown on top. There was no sauce or any real moisture. Parts of it were good (primarily the hummus and the cheese crisp). But while the combination initially sounded intriguing, ultimately they didn't go together very well. The "Sound" area is a manufactured urban area trying to be trendy. (It's to urban living what Disneyland is to real adventure.) Ultimately, it's not organic, and only a ghost of that which it is trying to emulate. And frankly, from what I've seen after several visits, it's not being executed very well. One thing I forgot, the staff, especially the bartenders (or would that be "beertenders"?) were great. They were friendly and very patient - especially with my dinner buddy who wanted to try everything on tap before making a choice - ok, I might have asked for a sample or four myself. So props...
Read moreI felt terribly disrespected by the dark haired bearded male cashier that I tried to order Prosecco/sparking wine from. I came with a group and one of my friends ordered that exact drink, so me and another friend tried to order it because that’s the only wine that I like, only to be lied to to my face by this cashier. He told me they didn’t have any sparkling wine or Prosecco. He was very unfriendly about it and at first, I thought he was joking, so I said, “ok but my friend just ordered a glass…” And he still insisted that they had none. So then I ended up stuck with a wine that I didn’t even like. Meanwhile, my friend was able to keep getting refills of the Prosecco that this other cashier lied and told me they didn’t have. At some point another cashier mention that they weren’t supposed to be selling it, but then they kept selling her glasses of it. It’s just the fact that I was so unfairly treated and for no good reason that really did not sit right with me and it ruined the experience for me. It got to the point where my friend actually offered to get me a glass herself because the cashiers kept giving her refills, but refused to sell it to me. It makes zero sense to me that they would not just sell me a glass, but then they ended up giving her three glasses. Definitely never coming back....
