My husband and I just had our wedding reception at Howell and Dragon. All in all, it was a great night. Our guests raved about the food and the venue is beautiful. We selected this venue specifically because of the freedom with the food options and we loved the way they set up their tastings.
I am only leaving 4/5 stars because of the communication process throughout the time we have been organizing details with HAD. We had 10 months from the time we booked until reception day and we probably went through at least 4-6 different coordinators. We never met the same coordinator twice, it was someone new at the tasting, the 90 day meeting, the final walk through, a few different people on the same email address too when we had random questions and then on the actual day were people we had not met before. I don't need my hand held through the process but I think it's worth mentioning for anyone who wants to have a more consistent experience. Additionally, this meant I was often having to repeat the same details to different people. I emailed our seating chart to our coordinator at the time and indicated how many chairs needed to be at each table (each table between 7-10 people) and when we arrived all the tables had 8 chairs and someone in my party had to rearrange everything.
Again, our wedding reception was great. I only mention the above in detail because I wish I had known ahead of time what to expect with the...
Read moreI can't say enough about how wonderful a job Howell and Dragon and CN Catering did for my daughter's wedding. The venue itself is beautiful. The way they have it set up, you have a multitude of options. They provide everything from chairs to silverware. Truly a one stop shop! Brooke was a dream to work with - she is incredibly responsive and so helpful in making suggestions and showing set up options. She was patient with my never ending questions and displayed professionalism and confidence! The service provided during our event was seamless! They were well trained, non invasive, but there when you needed them and friendly and polite. To me, that is a sign of a well run organization...happy employees! Let's talk about the catering - The food was, quite honestly, the best I've ever had. A week later and people are still talking about it! Everything was hot (not luke-warm) and delicious! We had 3 different food stations and they were run like a well oiled machine! At first we thought there would be lines and it would take a minute, but, I kid you not, we blinked and everyone was served and enjoying their meal. I don't know when I will have another opportunity to use this group, but I can assure you, when I do, they will be at the top of...
Read moreHere’s why I believe my experience was worth minus 2 stars: My client’s event at H&D was a wonderful celebration for everyone. Oddly enough, there was an unhappy ending to this fairytale of an evening. While this venue is sweet & impressive, and the staff members were courteous & helpful; there was one unfortunate incident that left us all a little stunned and upset. A big (open) box of UNOPENED gifts (monetary, personal, handmade, and otherwise) was accidentally left behind. Rather than noticing the open full box of gifts and calling my clients to let them know, or even seeing a box of gifts and alerting a manager to handle the box, it was discarded in their dumpster (as the security cameras revealed). Oh, yes…you read me correctly…money and sentimental treasures were thrown away like trash. Their response to this (in my client’s case) was to tell them, the “protocol” is to throw everything away that’s left behind. So, if you plan to have your event here, make sure you designate someone to meticulously sweep the area for your valuables & keepsakes or they may end up...
