Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Discrimination at Nordstrom Rack, Serramonte
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally complain about discriminatory treatment I experienced at the Nordstrom Rack location in Serramonte on [Date of incident] at approximately [Time of incident]. As an African-American male, I believe I was subjected to unfair and discriminatory behavior by [Employee name or description, if known, or "store personnel"].
Specifically, on March 22nd 2025( the incident in detail.)"I was followed closely by a store employee while browsing the men's department, while other customers were not. When I asked for assistance, I was ignored. I noticed other customers receiving help. I was then asked to open my bag before exiting the store, while other customers were not."also the police department was called and I was asked if I was going to pay for the bag that I had on my back which I came in with it's a North face bag from the North face store I told the office for sure if you want to search my bag that's fine and whatever the ee I didn't mind to open my bag and let me know he'd be outside I was fine with that and when I went outside he wasn't there because then they were wrong.].
This treatment caused me significant distress and humiliation. I felt that I was being singled out and treated differently due to my race. I believe this constitutes a clear act of discrimination, which is unacceptable and violates both Nordstrom Rack's stated policies and my fundamental rights.
I am requesting a thorough investigation into this matter. I would also like to receive a formal response outlining the steps Nordstrom Rack will take to address this situation and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. I expect to be informed of the outcome of your investigation and any corrective actions taken.
I have retained [Optional: "photographic evidence" or "the names of witnesses"] and am prepared to provide further details if necessary. I look forward to your prompt attention to this serious...
Read moreSo i started shopping about an hour before closing I had some of the workers following me around which I get there's a lot of thieving going around these days but anyways I went to the restroom while I was in the restroom the store closed, so I hurried up and left as I was walking out the door I realized I didn't have my phone or my wallet with me. (I remember leaving them in the restroom.) I returned informing the security guard at the front of the store my situation he told me that they had already swept the bathroom so that there was nothing inside. I informed him that I was one of the last if not the last person in the restroom and my belongings had to be in there. He got on his Radio and as I waited he informed me again that they checked all the stalls and that there was no phone no wallet so I asked if he could view the security footage to see if anybody had gone in there after he told me this was not possible and that I would have to just leave my information. As the last person was leaving the store I asked him if he could please dial my phone number because I have lost my phone. He informed me that "the man found your wallet and your phone " and he pointed right at the security guard. A manager had arrived and was glaring at me and gruffly told me to step back 25 feet because I had lit a cigarette. I put the cigarette out and went to get the witnesses info . Because they were still acting like they hadn't found my wallet once they saw that I wasn't giving up easily , they miraculously produced my wallet in my phone and handed them back. I don't know about you but I think this is shady as...
Read moreThe checkout process at Nordstrom Rack has become one of its major drawbacks. While the store offers a fantastic selection of discounted designer items, the long checkout lines significantly dampen the shopping experience. On my recent visit, it took nearly 20 minutes to get through the line, which felt excessive for a retail store.
The issue seems to stem from a combination of factors: understaffed registers, a high volume of shoppers, and an inefficient checkout system. While the employees at the registers are polite and hardworking, there simply arenât enough of them to handle the crowds, especially during peak hours. Additionally, the process seems slower than necessary, possibly due to the complexity of processing returns, promotions, or rewards accounts.
To make matters worse, thereâs often no clear communication about expected wait times, which can leave customers frustrated and uncertain about how long theyâll be standing in line. The lack of self-checkout options, which are increasingly common in other retail stores, adds to the inconvenience.
Nordstrom Rack needs to address this issue by either hiring more staff, streamlining their checkout procedures, or implementing self-checkout stations. Until then, shoppers should plan for extra time during their visitâespecially if youâre heading there on a busy weekend or during a sale.
Overall, while Nordstrom Rack offers great deals and a solid selection, the long checkout wait detracts from the otherwise enjoyable shopping experience. Itâs something the store really needs to improve to retain...
