Hoover Auditorium — Attraction in Danbury Township

This is a great place. We attend our church's Annual Conference at Lakeside every year and the daily meetings are held in Hoover Auditorium. This is one of those great old places that you rarely find any more, but it isn't just a dusty museum piece, it is comfortable and modern as well. The acoustics are quite good and with the large projection screens that are up during our conference, it is easy to see, and hear, what is happening on stage. During the rest of the warm weather season, the Lakeside Association regularly has concerts and well-known speakers and pastors come to share their talents here. Lakeside is still going strong as a retirement community, and their entertainment temple is this place. Stop by any weekend evening to see all the old folks congregate and be entertained by acts ranging from the washed up to the absurd.

It is interesting to see the steel bracing that has been installed to shore up the failing wooden interior beams. It almost looks like it was original to the building.

I like how the seating is sloped with ramps and not stairs, much more accessible that way. BUT the lack of air conditioning is actually ridiculous. on hot days it makes the show totally miserable for both performer and spectator. and it's only going to be more and more of an issue as summer temps continue to climb. I really don't think adding a/c will significantly impact the historical charm of this place. the lack of parking...
