Do not ever stay here. This is a historic hotel that is in great need of TLC. We were so looking forward to our stay, but found it to be dingy and dirty. Our first room was very small and cramped, had black moldy caulk in the shower, spiders on the ceiling, one window had NO window covering, rotting spot on wall, a "full" size bed that felt like a single bed. We had to ask for a sheet to hang over the exposed window. We asked to be moved to another room. The lady at the front desk gave us pushback even though it was slow season and hardly anyone was there. My husband insisted and they moved us to another room. It had a little more space, a queen size bed that was clean and bathroom was nice and clean. The rest of the room UGH! Gross, dirty air conditioning split that looked like it had not been cleaned for years, MANY spiders and bugs in every ceiling corner, stained light shades, dusty ceiling fan. One thing I need when traveling is a clean room. Elbow grease, paint and regular maintenance would go a long way helping this property. This is the worst hotel we have ever encountered. This was our first visit to Lakeside. I am sad for the Lakeside Community that the hotel is in such disrepair. The historic hotel deserves better. We ended up leaving and staying at a hotel in Port Clinton. It was a relief to be out of the Hotel Lakeside. To their credit, the manager did give us a refund for the three days. We were unable to stay after we left.

This hotel is only open in the summer months and never intended for winter use. This is an historic hotel and dated. No tvs, irons, refrigerators. But it does have a Keurig and great water pressure. This is a summer historic getaway hotel. You don't spend time in your rooms so we have never mind it's rustic nature. The screened porch with the lakeview is incredible. The caterer that maintains the restaurant on the property serves absolutely wonderful food. This is our go-to place when you need a relaxing weekend, and fun activities for the kids. Safe, quiet at night, and everyone is so respectful and wonderful. I wish I could afford my own house here. I do wish though Hotel Lakeside could partner with The Greenbrier or The Homestead hotel in Virginia. They maintain historic old structures and hotels as well and probably could learn a lot from their operations and their experience over the years. Just a suggestion to throw out there. Put the charm of Hotel Lakeside is magical.

Lovely hotel and area. Breakfast was good and beds were decent. My one issue with service: We were not aware before arriving of the very high cost of parking and the charges per person to stay at the hotel which are paid at the entry gate. We paid $170ish for two adults and one car for two nights. Additionally, we paid $102 for 3 kids for two nights. This is above and beyond the per night charge to stay at the hotel, which you pay the hotel. I went back and looked at my confirmation email and although it was mentioned there was an additional charge, there were no details. I think it should be disclosed before arriving since it was almost $300. Our room had AC and hot buffet breakfast was included with your stay. No TV in our room. Property is beautiful and there is nice scenic walking path along the water. Mini golf, paddleboarding and kayaking were additional charges.

This is a historic 150 year old Inn. I would have assumed there would have been some maintenance in that time, but I may be wrong. The screened wrap around porch was lovely and the view is outstanding. The rooms are not good. I booked a room with 2 queens and got 2 doubles. When I questioned it, I was told someone else had also questioned the bed size and the manager had someone measure them and they measured to a queen. The manager should have done it themselves. You can look at these beds and know beyond a shadow of a doubt they were only doubles. The wall paper was peeling off the walls and curling on the edges. The shower wall had a repair done with white duck tape. The ceiling had missing plaster and piece of paint hanging. The air conditioners (although old) worked well, but were loud. The space between the air conditioner side and the window jamb was closed off with what looked like cardboard and duck tape. Air conditioners and table lamp had extension cords plugged into power strips. While not a hazard, certainly not a good look. All in all, the Inn is nowhere near worth the money. The Restaurant is okay but also overpriced. The Staff was very nice at both the Inn and the Restaurant. Very little beach area, but the pool is very nice although it's a little bit of a walk from the Inn. All in all, I could have gone elsewhere and spent the same amount of money and had nicer accommodations with queen size beds. While we enjoyed the time we spent as a family, this is not a place we would...

When you come to this hotel you have to expect an old hotel that has been preserved. The place smells like an old place and is dusty from age. Most of the rooms are darn small but probably bigger than they would have been when it was built. My daughter was up stairs in an upgraded room to be bigger or newer, she did not feel it was either but $189 a night I had hoped it would have been a bit nicer. I understand they are redoing some of the rooms but not the ones we were in. I stayed in one of the handicap accessible rooms. The toilet woudl not flush and it was hard to get someone to plunge it, the automatic door was broken and hanging, the plastic lamp shades were cracked and broken, the shade in the bathroom window would not retract after we pulled it down. It is a large room with two queen size beds and a large bath with roll in shower. That is the nice part. Anything inside Lakeside is expensive. You come for the location. This grand old hotel build in 1878 I think, sits right on the lake. The screened porch looks out on the lake which would be wonderful if they did not have a fountain drowning out the noise of the waves. On Sat. they had music on the pavilion nearby all afternoon. I go there for quiet and rest and want to sit on the pavilion enjoing the water in peace not with loud blaring music. They could put that in the gazebo which is made for music concerts!!!! People come to the water with just to be...
