Ballou Park — Attraction in Danville

Last time I took my son here the playground was still tore up from the last huge storm. I like the new playground equipment but everything is directly out in the sun. This causes a huge safety risk for children; especially younger kids. I am a grown man and when I got on the playground equipment to play with my son; I burned both my hands. I also wish Ballou Park had more features! There just isn’t a lot to do with your family when you come here. There are no drink machines. There are no snack machines. Beyond the small playground; there isn’t much to do. I don’t fault Ballou Park for the storm damage but I do fault them on the fact it had been numerous weeks since the storm and yet it was still a mess. I know tax payers are the ones funding the park and I can’t help but to think that tax payers money isn’t being fully utilized!! Also; who is responsible for cleaning the park? While me, my wife, and son were there; my son stumbled upon a used condom! For starters; who in their right mind does things like this at a public park?!?! Secondly; we didn’t see not one police officer or any form of safety personnel while we were there. I just feel like that a park this close to the new casino; should represent the city of Danville a lot better...

There are two disc golf courses there: a short 9 hole at the front of the park and, an 18 hole with 2 tees. It starts across from the ball field. From West Main Street entrance follow straight, 9 hole #1 tee is on the right, keep going down the hill past shelter #3, around past the left turn to the playground and hole #1 is on the left at the kiosk.
