Food Lion — Local services in Danville

Last night, I went to Food Lion on W. Main around 6 pm, which is the usual time I visit. Nick is by far one of their best employees. He's consistently interested in how customers are doing and is always helpful and genuinely nice.

I have witnessed some unusual incidents in the store before. Once, a couple accused Nick of being racist because he couldn't give them cash back at that time. On another occasion, a woman held up the entire line while her companion went to check the price of cherries. She thought they were $4 total, not $4 per pound as the sign indicated. She then rudely said goodbye and walked away.

Yesterday, however, I saw something you don't see much anymore. An elderly gentleman was $2.51 short for his items and offered to put something back. Nick kindly said that it was okay and paid the balance with his own card.

Food Lion is a good, basic store, with appealing sales. This particular location is usually clean and well-staffed, and most employees are polite. While I wish the store offered more in terms of a deli, bakery, etc., overall, it's a pleasant...

This Food Lion has quickly become my go to grocery. During the height of the pandemic they kept the shelves stocked to the best of their ability. Certain items are priced well below the competition and you save even more by presenting your MVP card at the register at check out. By the way that service is free. The employees are all friendly and answer any questions I may have. The store is always clean and the produce is beautiful. As a coffee connoisseur I love the different varieties of coffee they have. The store can become quite busy at certain hours, however most of the time I'm able to get in and out. I would have given five stars but there are maybe one or two employees that won't part their lips to even say good morning but other than that this is a great...

I understand they are trying to help everyone during this pandemic and are usually swamped trying to get customers out in an orderly manor but what I witnessed today was just unsanitary. They had people walking in and out without masks on and one blatantly rude customer going up to employees and customers coughing right in people’s faces with no regards for others safety. I understand some people will refuse to wear a mask but he was out in the open full chest coughing all over the place and no one said a word. It was just an overall terrible...
