Very positive first experience and I will come back here! Come support a new spot in town that will be perfect for students and fun enough for coffee enthusiasts too.
First of all, the atmosphere of this place is fantastic. Lots of beautiful cacti around the shop (clearly marked with 'do not touch' on every single plant... so don't even think about it! ha) and an overall nice, bright and open space. I can imagine this place being packed with students near finals yet not feeling cramped. I am not a student anymore but I will certainly walk down here sometime to do some laptop work.
The service was exemplary, especially for on an early Monday morning! Two baristas were behind the counter who greeted me kindly and both seemed like very nice people. I ordered a cappuccino, it came out in a perfectly reasonable time.
The coffee itself is a solid 3.5, maybe 4 out of 5. Temple makes my favorite espresso in town, Pacha's sells my favorite beans, Volt sells my favorite cold brew, but it's looking like Frenzy is gonna have my favorite sitting spot. This cappuccino wasn't as good as Temple's, but it is also cheaper and there are plenty of sitting areas much nicer than Temple's. I would be perfectly happy sipping this imperfect cappuccino while sitting inside and working. The machinery that they have is state of the art stuff, I think perhaps the beans could be fresher? That's my current theory as to why I don't find this espresso drink to be quite as flavorful as Temple's. It's not sour or bitter, the hallmarks of bad espresso, but I think the espresso used could be a bit more flavorful. It tastes like a darker, more traditional espresso roast while I believe Temple uses medium roasts. Let me be clear though, this is much better than Starbucks or Dutch Bros espresso---this is a proper third wave cafe, at least from this first impression. One thing I would like to note is that the milk was prepared perfectly---it had great texture and their cappuccino style is dryer (read: more milk foam) than Pacha's or Temple, which I prefer! Perfectly textured cappuccino with a good-not-perfect helping of espresso.
All-in-all, great new spot. I will have to bring my partner along with me next time to...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately too much went wrong. The baristas were very nice, and I really don't like rating small businesses poorly, so I'm planning to return again a bit later and adjust my rating accordingly. It seems like they are suffering from a poorly organized bar and workflow, and were not quite ready to open their shop.
I am dairy-free, and there is not much setting them apart from other coffee shops about their menu other than their 3 specialty drinks that all contain a dairy cream top (which is totally fine!). However, they had a unique pandan syrup, so I ordered a matcha latte with pandan syrup. After waiting 35 minutes for my drink (it was grand opening, but it was still quite slow considering the amount of orders they had and the fact that I was not there during peak hours) they made my drink wrong by putting a cream top on it. Instead of making a new one right away (as they said they would), I patiently waited as they made other drinks for another 10 minutes. Eventually, they said, "Do you not have your drink yet?" After that, only then did they remake it. I understand its grand opening, but 45 minutes is quite a bit too long for the amount of orders on their plate. My friend also had her drink entirely forgotten about.
My matcha was very watery and did not taste very good, and my friend group and unfortunately I could not quite distinguish the flavor of the pandan syrup from regular sweetener in the matcha. My other friend ordered an iced mocha latte and the "mocha" part was actual molten chocolate, which would be great, but in her iced latte just hardened at the bottom as chunks of chocolate she couldn't drink. My boyfriend really liked his hot pandan latte, and I also thought it was good with a much more distinguishable flavor. I'd recommend ordering the pandan in the coffee more than the matcha.
The atmosphere is gorgeous, their marketing was great, and again the workers are all very kind. The seating is really good and makes for a great study spot. I'll likely visit again once they have settled in a little more, and will revisit this review. I look forward to seeing this...

The good things: It’s very pretty inside Lots of outlets and places to study Coffee is okay
The bad: The matcha. I LOVE matcha but it seems like this place has been so inconsistent with it. During soft opening my matcha was so light and tasted just like milk, so I figured it was just a soft opening thing. Photos on here of the matcha pandan look great! But went yesterday and the matcha disappointed me once again. It sucks when a place has such inconsistency with drinks, but they are new and hopefully they can figure it out.
The service. The service is rushed and ingenuine. The girl taking our order the first time basically just waited for us to order - no recommendations or anything, no conversation, not even an offer to answer any questions. Again it’s a new spot, but you’d think that with training or something that the baristas would be a bit better with customer service.
PRICES. I am a college student, most people who go here are college students. Why is their matcha and coffee so small but the same price as a Medium (WHICH IS BIGGER) at philz?
Coffee. I think this is more so a con for me - I love sweet coffee, so if you like regular/bitter coffee, definitely a spot for you. Idk I expected the miso caramel coffee to be sweet or have like a unique flavor but it really was just bitter and lackluster to me. Also no straws? kinda defeats the purpose of a miso caramel top if it sticks to the lid of the coffee and i am sipping through the top without a straw.
Overall: I think the place needs work, it’s new so give it time, for me personally I doubt I...
