Bethune cookman is a very good school, it has a very rich heritage and also very good academia. Some of the teachers are very good and professional while other are not. I love this school I bleed maroon and gold, they have a great athletic programs as well, they are NCCA division 1 and also MEAC. However I am sad to say the staff at this institution is an abomination to the school. They are so unprofessional it is unbelievable, especially in the financial aid department, they treat the students like crap literally, I have seen this first hand and I have experience it my self. It makes me sick to my stomach the way the staff carries on and treats the students, this is such a good institution but the staff needs to be trained in professionalism, common courtesy and manners. It is sad that these adults are allowed to work in the school, they have ruined the reputation of the college and are degrading the rich heritage that was left by Dr Mary Mcleod Bethune. I am sure she would be so embarrassed and disappointed if she new what was going on at BCU after all she did to make her dream a reality. SHAME ON YOU ......and the ones that are nasty and rude and disrespectful know them self, straighten up your act and have some class and some pride, if not for your self do it for what...
Read moreIf you are planning on being a STEM major, I suggest that you stay far away from Cookman. My best friend, also a STEM major, and myself received full scholarships to Cookman, financially speaking it was the best decision. However, once we got there it was horrible. The level of professionalism that the staff exhibits is nonexistent. Academically, especially for anyone not majoring in liberal arts, this school is a complete joke. I was a transient student at my local community college during the summer and I felt more challenged there than I did at Cookman. They are behind as far as the rigor of classes go. I am afraid that i wont be adequately prepared to apply to Med School because of how unprepared my professors are training us to be. If you think I'm joking look at the minimum requirements to be accepted. Any school with that low of standards are really a joke. Again, if you are someone who takes their academics seriously, DO...
Read moreI'm finishing up my first year at Bcu and I can say, if cleanliness bothers you, I strongly recommend not coming here. I like most of the vibe. Here like the events, sports, and other things but this school is really dirty and some of the staff don't have proper manners. Some of the teachers will just throw random instructions at you and won't explain them in detail. As shown on the news the dorms are really dirty, and the cafe is also. It's possible to make some good memories here but honestly I don't recommend going here of you want your sanity. We only get one mental health day and some teachers act like it's the "devil"and still expect you to do work. On a day where your supposed to step away from it, smh. Don't go here it's way too expensive for what you get, it's...
