The Brickyard used to be the “go to “ place for the best hamburger/cheeseburger in the State (the South, maybe). A combination of Greek and savory spices, plus the best grade beef made this a hamburger to behold. NOT SO ANYMORE!
We had not been to Daytona in a while, and we were eager for two of The Brickyard’s cheeseburgers and fries. After our first bite, my wife And I looked at each other with dropped jaws. Something was clearly wrong! Our cheeseburgers didn’t taste anything like those we were accustomed to eating here. There was no Greek seasoning taste and the hamburger meat, itself, tasted and smelled like an inferior grade of meat. Both dishes were so bad, we couldn’t finish them. The only saving grace to a disastrous meal was the fries - which were not served hot ( like right out of the drier) but warm (nearly cold).
We asked our server if they had changed the recipe for the cheeseburgers. Her response was that she had no idea, but she didn’t think so. She’s didn’t ask why we both had not finished our meals nor did she inquire further. Actually, she appeared to be somewhat distracted, certainly disinterested. We asked if the Manager was available and she said she was out of town. We asked for our check and left as quickly as possible. We won’t be back to the Brickyard anytime soon. Our bill, for two cheeseburgers and two glasses of water was more than $36, much to pricey for the inedible meal that we tried to eat.
On a later trip to Daytona, we stopped at Bahama Breeze, several miles west of The Brickyard on ISB. My wife and I ordered cheeseburgers and were very impressed with them. Both were cooked to our specifications and tasted great. So, if you’re going to be in Daytona and are interested in getting a great cheeseburger at a reasonable price, Bahama Breeze is...
Read moreReally had high hopes for this place, everyone raves about the burgers and they have been around for a long time! Unfortunately we had a really bad experience. The cook was incredibly rude, slamming stuff around and cursing in our direction. Being extremely aggressive to the point we had to say something to the server. She responded with, "he starts to do this about 8pm because we close at 9pm and he doesn't want to take any more customers". We were appalled. She apologized for him and even said he's not here on Sundays or Mondays. This issue needs to be addressed by ownership. I work in the hospitality industry and know a thing or two about customer service. His anger and rage towards us affected the food, the burger wasn't seasoned and it was over cooked, we had to send it back. You can imagine what this did to the cook, he was enraged. On top of it the shrimp was still cold and the pastrami sandwich was soggy and he forgot the caramelized onions. We then realized he was handling the raw meat with his bare hands then digging out the coleslaw with his meat covered hands and filling the ramekins. This is beyond a health violation and could make someone very sick. We did not eat the coleslaw, nor the pickle. We were completely disappointed and my mother-in-law, who has been coming here since they first opened said she will never be back. The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because the server tried to reconcile the situation and apologize. This cook needs to be reprimanded and retrained. Until then I do not...
Read moreI have been going here for the last 10 years, best burgers in town, drive 1.5 hours to get one every couple of weeks… place was sold and went back to have lunch with a few friends… place was renovated, looked great, clean, fresh.. so we ordered three hamburgers. The waitress was very nice. The place was just a very nice place and we got three of the most horrible, horrible, horrible hamburgers whether it be a bacon cheeseburger or just cheeseburgers, they were burnt, burnt, burnt and dry on the outside and they were different shades of pink on the inside no flavor so heavily seasoned, could not eat it,but we tried to put a good light on it,which makes me believe the grill was not cleaned as they cook it on a flat top and I believe it just picked up the flavors from other foods, not being cleaned off the grill, so not being very happy I called to talk to the owner Annette very nice lady but I called three times just to let her know what was what so that she could get it together and be successful as I love that place however, she was not there and her managers or assistant managers kept blocking me, so I left my phone number twice no call back.. They gave me an email which I didn’t use because I’m not going that far and I just wanted to give her some constructive criticism in hopes that she would turn it around, but I don’t like people blocking a customer from telling the owner what’s going on, therefore this is a terrible review and I...
