This park was full of friendly families! My son made a few friends while sharing toys as they played in the sandbox. One of the highlights of the day was when the kids all heard Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner train and nearly everyone rushed to the fence with their parents to watch it ride by. The train is currently operating on a minimized schedule so if you want your kid to see it, make sure you look up the times to be sure you catch it at least once while you’re here.
After playing at the park, we had a beach day. Powerhouse Beach perfect for kids because of the small waves and there is enough sand to camp out on. At certain tides, the waves might come up to the cliffs but we didn’t have any problem while we were there. There’s also a paved ramp that goes down to the sand so you can easily push a wagon or stroller down to the beach to help haul all the extra things you need for a beach day with kids. Just use caution if doing so because it can be slippery with the sand.
🚙Minimal free parking on Ocean Ave. Metered parking on Coast Blvd. There are also 2 play lots off Coast Blvd. Minimal free 2 hour parking on 15th St. 💰This park & beach are free 🎠The play structure is built on a rubber ground surface. There is also a small sandbox that is shaded by a canopy so be sure to bring your sand toys. There is a designated area for swings but they have been removed. I’m it sure if they have intentions of putting swings back here or not. I hope they do though! 🚽Restrooms 🚿Showers near restrooms and also a foot wash station by drinking fountains by the playground 🧺Multiple picnic tables 🪑Park benches at playground 🏖Playground is near the beach 🌅Scenic ocean views 🖼Lawn 🛣The playground is tucked into an area that is far from busy roads 🥾Dirt trails at Sea Cliff Park (just past the fence by the sandbox) 🚲Paved path you could use for strollers but I wouldn’t recommend young kids riding bikes or scooters because of all the beach sand tracked around 🚂Train nearby but barricaded by a...

Swing set with 2 swing harnesses for littles and 2 regular swings. Shaded sand pit with shaded benches nearby (BYO sand toys). A few rocking animals to ride. Rubber base with some sandy sections. Low wall around the area. Adjacent to the giant, grassy, gently sloping area (Powerhouse Park) perfect for blankets and picnics. Looks perfect for flying kites and epic bubbles! Bathrooms across the park in the...
Read moreThis park is fabulous, on either side of the playground are two very large turf areas to play in, there are also several picnic tables around the playground. The view is incredible as it sits directly on the bluff, great place to watch the sunset. A big hit for all the little kids is when one of the many trains pass by, as the tracks are approximately 50feet from the playground. There are lots of places to eat around the area and parking is usually...
