Heron Pond Natural Area — Attraction in Denver

as an earlier review stated it is absolutely weird that this park is rated so highly. if you're working in the area or something and have some time to kill while you're waiting I suppose this is better than walking around one of the local industrial parks. and it's always good when a municipality sets aside some space for a natural area. but it's true that you will be smelling the fumes from all the local industry, and on all sides your view is going to involve buildings and machinery. that said I am giving this two stars instead of one because like I said if you're stuck in this area waiting for your job to start or to pick up some packages from Amazon it's not a bad place to go to kill an hour...

As a birder and naturalist, I appreciate this area purely for what it is: a natural island in an urban sea. Over 150 species of birds have been reported in this small space. The city has an ambitious plan to restore and enhance the access and learning potential for this place. The area has a long history of use and the fact that it exists is commendable.
