Butcher Block Cafe — Restaurant in Denver

We arrived an hour and a half BEFORE they were to close and when we walked in the waitres asked that we sit in this area, nodding to an area toward the back of the restaurant. That was not where we needed to sit, she raised her voice more and pointed to an area of 6 tables. Thankfully she was not our server. The young gentleman that did wait on us was awesome. The food was great, there seemed to be no rush, one of the kitchen help asked us and the two other couples there if it would be ok if he started to mop the floor by the corner furthest from us, we all agreed it would be fine. The female waitress that was rude had just finished putting the chairs, feet side down on set table top. She left about 2:15pm, closing was at 3:30pm I , personally, will not return to that Butcher Block at approximately 47th or 48th and Washington and I discouraged others when they say thats where they want to go. Let's start with this was for lunch at work so speed is of the essence. I get lunch here often, but today was the worst. First I call the same number I always do its saved in my phone. The staff tells me this is the wrong location. I grab a menu and check call the number again it's the same and the number is busy, for quite a bit. When I arrived at the restaurant the staff did not even look at me when I came in. After standing there far a minute I was asked rudely "Yes?" Not how are you today? Or, How can I help you? I have been going to Butcher Block Cafe for decades and will continue to go. I have tried almost everything on the menu and can say their food is well cooked and delicious.

On this occasion, I had the chicken fried steak with gravy, a salad, whipped potatoes, and a few slices of bread. It tastes as a chicken fried steak should.

The service is more than great. They take care of customers period! The food was brought out in a timely manner and cooked correctly. The restaurant is clean with style that looks like it hasn't changed in 50 years, but that is what I like about Butcher Block Cafe. Overall a great place to eat and will continue...
