I started going to this halal store looking for meat to buy since my daughter stopped eating meat from the big box grocery stores. There was a switch of owners mid-summer at the Middle East Market. While the friendly service is the same, the store itself has gotten a makeover. The storeowner has cleaned up and organized every product, even adding more light. Each time I've shopped there, the owner or employees are working hard to make sure it's ready for customers. One example of their friendly service, I wanted Angel Kisses, chocolate covered marshmallow, and they ordered it for me from Chicago, and now they keep it stocked. Mostly, you will find lots of Middle Eastern products, like grape leaves, olive oil, and kunaffa, which actually tastes good for being packaged (Zalatimo brand). The experience can be described as an upscale 7-11ish store in some distant North Africa neighborhood. Somewhere they have a butcher because sheep or goat meat is available fresh. Lots of hand packaged spices, canned goods, and sweets from places like Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt. Also Korans, hookahs, and cooking utensils and a whole lot more. Prices are reasonable.
