Read moreI will be leaving this comment here since they are deleting negative comments on their Instagram and hiding the negative reactions. Snowflake has always been a great event held by Stranahans and even if you arrived the morning of release you were still guaranteed a bottle.
For 2024 the purchase limit was increased to three instead of two. And at first thought you’d think, oh they must have a lot more this year! And in years past you were able to buy a bottle and go to the end of the line and get another. But no, they sold out while the line was still going, all because they let people buy three, almost all of which will be selling at least one if not all three on the secondary market and leaving their fans, especially their loyal local fans, with nothing. Not to mention those who arrived on Friday that got their wristband and then went home to come back Saturday morning.
I waited all morning only to be 10 people away from purchasing to be told the bottles ran out. And then I was offered a free tour (which are free regularly) or I could “still buy some merchandise.” That was a slap in the face and salt in the wound of missing out on the bottle.
There was absolutely no reason to let people buy three bottles, unless the production was ramped up by 33+ percent to compensate which I’m sure it wasn’t as a result of not getting a bottle. A friend was able to get some in line ahead of me and said someone was offering people cash for their bottles or for them to buy three if they didn’t plan on it as well.
After being a fan for 10+ years and volunteer bottling 3 times over the years, I am no longer a fan of Stranahans as a result of how this event was ran. And with how many years of doing this under their belt you’d think they’d only make it better not worse. And to try and hide the negative reactions and make it seem like sunshine and rainbows for all...

My visit to Stranahan's whiskey distillery in Denver was an absolute highlight and easily earns a full five stars. From the moment you step onto the property, you're enveloped in a palpable sense of passion for their craft.
The tour itself was incredibly informative and engaging. Our guide Ryan was not only knowledgeable about the entire whiskey-making process, from grain to glass, but also infused the presentation with genuine enthusiasm and humor. You get an up-close look at the stills, the barrel-aging warehouses (and the incredible aroma that comes with them!), and truly understand what makes Stranahan's distinct. They clearly take immense pride in their American Single Malt, and it shows in every detail.
And then, of course, there's the tasting. The opportunity to sample their range of expressions, including some that are not readily available elsewhere, was a real treat. Each pour was a testament to their dedication to quality, offering nuanced flavors and a smoothness that even a seasoned whiskey drinker can appreciate.
Beyond the whiskey, the atmosphere of the distillery is fantastic. It's a welcoming and well-designed space that invites you to linger. The gift shop offers a great selection of spirits and branded merchandise, perfect for taking a piece of the experience home. Also, they have a whiskey lounge so you can have a drink after the tour!
Whether you're a devoted whiskey connoisseur or simply curious about the world of craft spirits, Stranahan's is an essential stop in Denver. It's more than just a distillery; it's an experience that educates, entertains, and leaves you with a deep appreciation for the artistry of American whiskey....
