One of my favorite Mexican food joints in Denver. They've been around for 67 years so you know they're doing something right. Their specialty are crispy chile rellenos smothered with their distinctive green chile. I love the #1 but it's a mountain of food so split a plate or be prepared for leftovers. Since we're in difficult financial times I feel it necessary to warn you that their chips and salsa are $4; not complimentary like most places. Frankly, I don't feel they justify the cost. Just skip them, is my advice. Everything here is made with care and I'm constantly amazed at the consistency of their food. A visit to the brewery bar is like stepping back 50 years and experiencing a long gone aspect of Denver life; friendly people taking a moment to catch up on a little talk over a great meal.

We have been long-time patrons, however, we no longer live close enough that we can order take-out and have it eaten within 20 minutes. My SO ate there today and ordered takeout for me. He specifically told the waiter to have the cheese and lettuce put in a separate box so I wouldn't have warmed lettuce on a burrito I was going to have to reheat anyway. This is the second time he has made that request and the second time I have had warm lettuce on my burrito. He didn't re-order for the age-old fear that my food would get spit on or worse. Needless to say, the waiter only got 20% of the tip that he would have otherwise gotten had the takeout order been as requested and I wouldn't be writing this review and taking off a star for the not so great take-out experience.

A long time family favorite. This place has been here for years. The green chile is top notch. I recommend the hot if you're not a wimp. However be warned it is spicy. I took some home because it's so good. So my family does somebody weekly reunions to get together stay connected. This was the suggestion for last week. Never a bad choice. So we arrived about 6:30 p.m. save it immediately the service was on it. Water chips drink almost instantly. The food was so fast we didn't have much time to talk. However we were unrushed and so we caught up. Highly recommend this over the newer chains located closer to home having a ranch area. Just less hype and the food that launched the other more popular locations.

Came here looking for a cheap place the locals like as a lover of dive bars. I had the Chili Relleno. They were definitely frozen rellenos that just didn't taste that good to me. The toppings on the Relleno were alright, but the dish itself just wasn't good to me. It came out in about three minutes so that's a dead giveaway there's no love being put into that dish. The cheese inside wasn't very good at all, the toppings are the only thing that saved it and even that was really watery which got rid of most of the crispiness.

The menu says it was "voted the best crispy chili relleno in Denver" but it doesn't say where that vote came from, and I can't find any list that puts them even in the top 10, and i just dont believe that's the best Denver has to offer. Maybe it was better long ago.

The bar itself is nice. Great staff. Lots of customers enjoying themselves. Clean, fun environment. The other food I saw coming out like the burgers looked a lot better than my food. However I wouldn't agree that it's "fine Mexican dining" like the sign said, it's a menu that very much fits a mexican-american dive bar.

If you choose to go, I would recommend you try a...

We've been going to BB2 since mid 70s. We always enjoyed a good smothered burrito and margarita. We supported them during Covid and we ate in tents in the parking lot. We've had family birthday dinners there. Many memories! We were in the area on Weds April 16th, 2025 and decided to grab lunch. It was packed with lunch ppl. We waited for a table. One opened up and I sat on edge of booth bench to get this table. I was told to jump up and they wiped table. We were getting ready to order. The lady owner came over and balled me out for taking the table un-wiped. I knew they had to clean it! She went on that they have rules and she kept going on loudly! Embarrassing us! My husband and I should have got up and left then. But we ordered food! Last time! The cook that has been there for years has always been kind and friendly to us. The woman bartender is very rude and has over charged us in the past. When bringing the price to her attention, she raised her voice at us demanding that we were wrong. It's really more about the rudness from these 2 women. We know everything has gone up. It's the rude attitude and yelling at seniors. We won't go back...

We have been customers of this location for many years. The food is great but the service is the worst. We feel they have the attitude that they are doing you a favor by serving you. Not the case. There are plenty of good mexican restaurants we can visit that actually appreciate our business. A few months ago we visited for lunch at 11am. The doors were open and it was a few minutes after 11. The gal said, we are not ready, wait outside. It was cold! We went outside and waited. We then saw a group go in and not come out. We went in and sat down. She never even let us know we could come in knowing she asked us to wait outside. The latest incident out of quite a few, I called in a to go order and they said it would be ready in 5 minutes, I told the gal on the phone I was leaving now but would be there in 15 minutes, she said then call back in 15 minutes and hung up. Wow. Really? We took our money elsewhere. As we learned with covid, any restaurant even the good ones, can fall victim to closure if they don't appreciate their customers. We will not return to...
