I am a 72-year-old retired high school teacher. At a family reunion last August, I voiced my desire to travel more, welcoming either or both of our daughters as travel companions. ‘Get fitter first,’ they said. OK then.
I was feeling weak and wary. Two years ago, I tore one ACL, then Covid kept me at home, and I live with arthritis. My walking radius was about two blocks and I felt that my knee shouldn’t be stressed, so I walked gingerly. Admittedly, my physical and mobility limitations were affecting my mood, as well.
Once I agreed to the idea of working with a personal trainer, one daughter sent me a link to Rachel’s website. This was all new to me. Rachel and I settled on a schedule of 20 visits to my home.
During the course of our sessions, I became noticeably stronger and more agile. One day, as I exited my building, I began walking with longer strides – as I used to. Muscle memory and strength were returning! Today, I walk as often as I can and I am working on lifting a carry-on bag up to an overhead compartment.
One daughter recently mentioned that April is a good time to travel. Goals met! My mood has improved considerably and my self-confidence has grown.
Rachel is a masterful personal trainer and I appreciate her so much. She is easy to work with, listens attentively, and was very encouraging and enthusiastic about my progress. I am amazed that the goals we set were attained within our scheduled sessions. Thanks to Rachel, I have learned to take on more responsibility for my own fitness and to set new goals. I am looking forward to living a more interesting and independent life. ~Sharon 11/2021
12/2023 I turned 75 this year and have been participating in Strength Training with Rach for over 2 years. It has paid off! My PRs recently include dead-lifting my weight (115 lbs.), and holding a plank for 6 minutes. I feel younger and am living a more active and interesting life. Amazing. You’re never too old! My two secret weapons? Rach’s enthusiasm to motivate me, and consistency. Sessions with Rach are welcoming, varied and fun. I encourage anyone to begin their own journey to strength with Rach. PS—my daughters and I spent a couple weeks in Europe this past Spring. We walked...
Read moreHonestly, I have some much love for Chin-Up and the community I have been slowly building. I was never really one for weight training and not so sure about rejoining a class as a plus-sized person but chose to try Chin-Up knowing I needed the class structure to push myself to come in regularly. I have only been a member for about six months but am so proud of the progress and changes I have made through the support I have gotten here. Rach has been amazing and such a great cornerstone for my experience; I have really appreciated the fine tuning and support from Jayd on my movements and lifting; and I love Ginger's enthusiasm and energy every class I have had with her. I went from never doing barbells to lifting around 200lbs in 6 months time and I look forward to see how far I can go. Can't recommend the gym and the...
Read moreI have been training with Rach since November 2022. After years of struggling to stay in a consistent routine of fitness I discovered that maybe it wasn't a lack of discipline on my part but that I hadn't found a trainer that made me fall in love with growing in terms of my personal fitness, until I found her. Rach is a breath of fresh air in a world filled with toxic trainers that are solely focused on weight loss. She is encouraging, not pushy and really leads her classes/individual sessions with love and respect for her clients. Rach coached me through my first fitness competition and I could not have done even remotely that well without her support and cheers. If you are someone with fitness experience or just looking to accomplish a fitness goal, you've found the...
