If I could I would give the Derby Greenway more than just a 5 star rating. A beautiful paved trail with sunny sections as well as shaded areas with bench seats along the park area and some facing the Naugatuck River towards Rt 34. No benches along the straight stretch going towards the Derby/Ansonia line. Dogs are prohibited by ordinance due, in part, to the abundance of Canadian Geese family’s that breed here & the other wildlife but you will see the occasional dog. Watch out for Goose droppings along the trail. Occasionally cleaned but not daily. Avian wildlife sightings are very common here. You may see Eagles, Hawks, Blue Herons, White Herons, Cormorants, Egrets and so many others. There is a large parking lot and a fishing/viewing platform near the lot. From the lot enter the trail, proceed to the right and just before the little bridge turn right off the paved trail. Walk all the way to the end just 100 yards or so ~ and you will arrive at the confluence of the Naugatuck and Housatonic rivers. Walk, run, wheel & bring a lunch, bring the kids, bring your...
