I was in the vicinity the other day and saw this recently opened retro gaming shop on my map, so I stopped in for a quick visit. This is my honest review.
8-Bit Gaming is a recently opened, as of February 2023, retro gaming store in Derry NH.
They have a small but nice selection of retro games and everything is well originized and tidy. I was able to quickly navigate the gaming sections that I was interested in with little to no difficulty.
The gentleman who was working that day, Matthew, was incredibly polite and attentive. He was very enthusiastic and gave off a very welcoming vibe, essentially the perfect retro gaming store employee.
I didn't see much that I was interested in purchasing, but I did find a single game and when I took it home and put it in my NES it worked perfectly the first time.
The prices seemed pretty fair for a physical location. More or less what things are going for online via eBay and Pricecharting. I would have liked to buy more and bundle for some additional value, but there wasn't much that I wanted, and the owner wasn't there. The associate didn't have much leeway or authority to do anything with the posted prices. Your experience may be better than mine.
Although the selection at 8-Bit Gaming wasn't that large, I will definitely be back for a subsequent visit if I'm in the general area and once they have been opened for a while longer.

Read moreIf anyone plans on shopping here in the near future, I would recommend asking to see the condition of the disc, before purchasing any games. I bought Wii Sports for $29.99 and noticed it was covered in scratches, shortly after I purchased it. I put it into my system anyways, on the off chance that it might work. Unsurprisingly, my attempt to get the game working, was futile.
I went to return the game later that day and was not able to get my $29.99 back. Instead, my only option was $29.99 worth of store credit. So, I was forced to buy three games that added up to that amount, even though I had no interest in any of the games available in the store.
I'm giving this store 5 stars because, the staff are very friendly and knowledgable about their practice. As you can tell by reading this review though, I strongly disagree with their anti-consumer policies and don't want other customers to go through the same experience, as I did. This experience severely soured my impression of the store and I have no plans to ever shop there in the future, as long as these anti-consumer policies...
Read moreUpon entering the store i was politely greeted by an employee behind the counter. He asked me how he could help me. I asked if they have ps2 in stock, they did not which is fine but I was offered a ps3 that was backwards compatible for the ps1 and ps2 systems. The man told me it usually resells for 700$ online and that I was getting a steal. I was assured that the system works properly and has been tested numerous times by the staff. Upon purchasing the system and returning home not only did i discover that the system was absolutely filthy. It was unable to run the games I purchased the system for as it is not in fact backwards compatible. I immediately called the company back but I was told that they will not be able to refund my purchases and that I should speak to the manger. The manager refused to refund me aswell claiming that I was wrong and the system is backwards compatible… despite me testing it. Very sketchy company with a small game selection not...
